Astralis is 2018’s team to watch after dominating ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals

0

During 2017, it felt like Astralis went to hell and back to get themselves in a shape fit for competing again. After all this time, Astralis’ effort has finally paid off and they are looking like they’ll be the team to beat for the remainder of 2018.

Here’s a look at Astralis’ recent top performances and why they may be a team you will want to look out for during 2018.

Astralis during ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals

Astralis’ performance during the ESL Pro League Season 7 Finals will certainly go down in history as their breakthrough moment in 2018. Across the entire event, from the group stages to the grand finals, Astralis only lost a single map, which was to Team Liquid in the Best of Five grand final on Mirage with a score line of 16-14.

Astralis absolutely crushed every team that came into their path, including the likes of Liquid, FaZe, and SK. Perhaps their most surprising performance in the event was their best of three matchup against FaZe in the semifinals. Despite FaZe clan’s recent win at IEM Sydney, Astralis came through with an incredible series, pulling out a 16-3 and 16-6 victory.

Astralis’ win at ECS Season 5 Europe

Although not quite as an important event, Astralis also recently dominated the ECS Season 5 Europe tournament. Throughout all of the games, Astralis lost just a single game, coming up on top with 17 wins.

In second place G2 had six losses – this just goes to show how incredible Astralis has been playing as of late.

Here is another shocking stat – Astralis won 118 rounds more than they lost across ECS Europe Season 5, whilst 2nd place team G2 had a 51 round net positive.

Astralis isn’t just winning right now, they’re absolutely dominating.

Future 2018 events to look out for

With Astralis’ recent incredible performances on the board, I’d certainly suggest keeping an eye out for the biggest events Astralis will be taking part in later this year.

Here’s an overview of some of the best events you can expect Astralis to show up to later this year.

ECS Season 5 Finals

Astralis already dominated in the ECS Season 5 Europe event and now they have a chance to show up on the international stage against the likes of Fnatic, G2, FaZe, NRG, Cloud9, Liquid, and Luminosity.

ESL One Cologne 2018 – July 2018

With a $300,000 prize pool and 16 of the best teams in the world, this will be Astralis’ true shot to seal the deal on their current top 1 world ranking position.

BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2018 – November

Not an event that would usually appear on the radar, but still a big one for Astralis to show up to. So far, we don’t know who is showing up beside Astralis, but we do know that $250,000 will be sitting in the prize pool.

Thanks for reading our blog! What are your thoughts on Astralis’ recent performance? Do you think they have what it takes to keep up their top form throughout 2018?
