Heroes of the Storm players prepare for the Eastern Clash, an epic tournament involving some of the best players from Asia. The event will take place at Paradise City in Incheon, South Korea, and the games will be broadcasted live. This tournament has a massive prize pool of $100,000 that will be distributed among the most successful players. The broadcast talent includes some of the best-known commentators, some of them also covering the Western Clash.

Team Dignitas blazes through the Western Clash

The best Heroes of the Storm team in the world showed its quality at the Western Clash, to win the event in a convincing manner. Eight teams were involved in a tournament with a prize pool of $100,000 and nobody walked out empty-handed. Team Dignitas steamrolled past opponents and finished the event with a flawless 12:0 record. They were more than a match for Team Octalysis, Method, Team Freedom and Leftover whom they defeated in a quick sequence.

Leftovers were the big surprise at the Western Clash after starting the event as the 4th seed in Europe. They caused a major upset by defeating HeroesHearth to nil in the first round, before falling to Team Freedom in the semifinals. They were able to avenge that defeat in the Losers’ Final where they swept their opponents to set the stage for an epic series with Team Dignitas. Unfortunately for them, the first seeded team crushed them in four games.

Eastern Clash format and prizes

On Friday the best four teams from South Korea, respectively China meet in Incheon for the Heroes of the Storm Eastern Clash. The winner will be decided over the weekend and will cash in a payout of $30,000 while the runner-up gets $20,000. Finishing in the third place will produce a check of $15,000 and $10,000 will be awarded to the one in 4th. The next two teams receive $7500 and consolation prizes will be awarded to those who finish rock-bottom.

In addition to claiming the money and bragging rights, the winners will also earn an extra spot for their region to the HGC Finals. The Western and Eastern Clash events are played in the same format, with quarterfinals being decided in best-of-three series and the rest of the matches in Bo5. The Grand Finals are Bo7 and the team who makes it to this stage from the Winners’ Bracket have a game advantage.

Gen.G are the big favorites at this event and they start as the first seed in the South Korean lineup. They will be joined by Tempest, Ballistix, and Blossom, while the Chinese roster will be led by Super Perfect Team. This is the only Heroes of the Storm team from China who is better placed than the three aforesaid teams. At a first glance, it looks like South Koreans are bringing much better teams at the HotS Eastern Clash. Having said this, Leftovers’ heroics in the Western Clash, urge restraint when predicting winners at the major Heroes of the Storm tournament.
