When Is Escape from Tarkov 1.0 Being Released?

Escape from Tarkov is arguably the most popular extraction shooter that ever existed. It’s the spearhead of the genre and is appreciated by millions of fans around the world. It has been in a beta state since 2016, with the developer, Battlestate Games, constantly updating and evaluating the prolific title. However, there’s a ‘Tarkov 1.0’ on the horizon, and with each passing update, fans are getting closer to receiving the finished product.

It was never on the cards for Tarkov to stay in beta forever. In the last few years, Battlestate Games has worked hard to graduate and evolve Escape from Tarkov, turning it from a fledgling extraction shooter to a gaming powerhouse with an immense reputation. With that in mind, when is Escape from Tarkov 1.0 being released, and when it is released, what will it look like?

What is Tarkov 1.0?

At the moment, Escape from Tarkov is a ‘beta’ game, which means it’s not a ‘fully released’ title and it’s prone to issues, constant updates, and experimental changes. It has been in this state for several years, and when a player purchases Escape from Tarkov, they’re technically ‘pre-ordering it’ rather than outright buying a finished product. There are many games like Escape From Tarkov, but EFT has long been regarded as one of the most polished and complete extraction shooters ever made.

In the future, Battlestate Games will release Tarkov 1.0, and along with that will come a staggering array of changes, amendments, and tweaks that will change the face of the game. For a title transitioning from beta to a full release, nothing is more important than making sure the end product is as perfect as possible – and that’s what Battlestate Games is focused on.

There are also hopes that Tarkov will be released on Steam, but that topic hasn’t been covered by Battlestate Games yet.

For Tarkov 1.0, Battlestate is working on the following elements:

  • A story that will allow players to finally escape from Tarkov
  • A ‘Prestige’ system that will see players rewarded for completing the game over and over again
  • Clans, alliances, and more factions
  • Downloadable content and hideout expansions
  • An advanced PMC Karma system
  • New microtransactions (cosmetics only)
  • An API release that will facilitate third-party apps like progress trackers
  • An all-new faction (the first in almost a decade)
  • A new map

There’s a huge amount on the roadmap for the release of Tarkov 1.0, but when is it happening?

When is Tarkov 1.0 Being Released?

Tarkov 1.0 doesn’t have a release date, but it’s widely expected that it won’t arrive until at least 2026. Battlestate Games has already confirmed that two wipes will take place in 2024 – one in the summer, and the other in the winter, so that writes off 2024 as a release window for the Tarkov 1.0 product. It’s widely assumed that Battlestate Games will heavily market the full release of Escape from Tarkov and it’ll be likely to attract hundreds of thousands of new players, so expect a long wind-up to the release.

For now, just keep looking forward to the next Escape from Tarkov wipe.
