Chapter 1’s original island has often been the focus of nostalgia for the game, with its rougher and less designed locale. The game has come on a lot since Chapter 1, but many players still yearn for its return. Recently we’ve had close approximations made in the expanded Fortnite creative, but Epic might be going a step further for Fortnite Season 5.
Developers have made it official after everybody basically knew for the last season anyway. The original Fortnite map is coming back! Why are we travelling back in time though? A lot of this hinges on Fortnite lore, a rarely simple topic. The vampiric boss behind Chapter 4 Season 4 has a time machine. Our heist crew has already been using it to return to a very specific date, June 12th 2018.
Most recently this has manifested in-game at Frenzy Fields. This POI has had a bunch of Chapter 1 props and landmarks dropped in the centre of it. Apparently, the results of a trial run with the time machine. Since then, Epic has confirmed that Chapter 4 Season 5 will be bringing back the original map. It’ll be kicking off on November 3rd, with the end of the current season.
According to leakers, it isn’t just the old map coming back. We’ll be cycling through different seasons of Chapter 1 each week! Players may be able to revisit different C1 landmarks across the mini-Chapter 4 Season 5. Along with the changes to the map, we’re also looking at the original loot pool coming back. We seem to be expecting the OG Assault Rifle and other old models to step back into focus for the latest release.

Going back to the original Fortnite map will be a fun change. Since Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 is so close to ending, we’ll get back on to that very first map really soon!
