It’s been a while since the last whispers about VALORANT Mobile. Currently, VALORANT stands as one of the most recognized games in the world, with a growing number of active daily players and a thriving esports ecosystem. It was previously rumored that VALORANT Mobile is currently in the beta phase in China. In a recent NNPA report, China has approved VALORANT Mobile in China. What does this mean for the mobile game? Since the release of VALORANT on PC, many fans have wondered if it would soon be available on mobile and console. VALORANT is a free-to-play FPS shooter featuring various agents with unique abilities. Due to the incredible animations and graphics, many have been awaiting its release on Android and iOS.
On June 5th, the National Press and Publication Administration of China announced its approval of VALORANT Mobile, which is titled VALORANT Operation Primal in the document. The approval process for a game by the National Press and Publication Administration takes over nine months.
Now that the game has been approved in China, it can be launched officially. Riot Games hasn’t revealed what is the VALORANT global release date, though. With today’s news, it’s possible that a beta could be released in China first before a global release. The game is already in testing in the country. Earlier, the company had said that it will provide an update on VALORANT Mobile and console later this year.
If we look at last year, VALORANT PC was officially launched in China in the third quarter of 2023. 2024 was also the first year for the professional VALORANT league in China, VCT CN. China is a huge market for mobile games and VALORANT Mobile’s approval is certainly a big boost for Riot Games. Time will tell, however, how the game performs globally and if we see an esports scene for the game evolving as well.
