Pokemon Yellow has a lot of the standard cheats you’d expect from a mainline series game, we’ll get some of those out of the way and then look at the game specific ones.

1. Max Money: Want unlimited cash? Here’s how:

  • Code: 019947D3 – Activate this code and check your inventory for a maxed-out cash stash.

2. Max Rare Candy: Level up your Pokémon instantly with this code:

  • Code: 01281ED3 – You’ll find Rare Candies in your PC item storage. (You may need a master code entered first – 01281DD3)

3. 99 Master Balls: Catch any Pokémon without fail:

  • Code: 01017CCF – Check your PC in the Pokémon Center for Master Balls.

4. Walk Through Walls: Explore every nook and cranny with this cheat:

  • Code: 010138CD – Enable this cheat to walk through any obstacles and barriers.

5. Unlimited PP (Power Points): Never run out of PP during battles, this is per move slot so you’ll need the right (or all of them) code for the slot:

Surfing Pikachu!

Pokemon Yellow Cheat Codes can help you get your Pikachu on a surf board

Pokemon Yellow events used to have the chance for you to get a Pikachu that knew the HM Surf. Your partner Pikachu and any Pikachu that you catch in the sister games cannot learn Surf naturally. But this Pikachu on a surfboard rides the waves just fine.

Since these events are nowhere to be seen now, you can mod your Pacific Pikachu. This is an exclusive with Pokemon Yellow though, you won’t be able to do this with Pokemon Silver cheats.

To play the mini-game, travel to the Surfing Guru south of Fuchia City and talk to him. Answer “Yes” when he asks if you want to go surfing. To change one of your moves to surf, have Pikachu in your first slot in your team.

  • Code: 013972D1 (This changes the 1st move slot. To change the 2nd, 3rd or 4th move slot, change the underlined number to 3,4 or 5 respectively.)

If you’re wanting to spend more time in the Safari catching Pokemon until your Safari Balls run out, instead of when the timer runs out, you can get infinite safari time with this code.

How do I put in cheat codes?

If you’re playing on a physical cartridge, to use these cheats, you’ll need a GameShark or Action Replay device. These are separate purchases that you plug into your console first, input the cheats for the game, then take it out and load in your Pokemon Yellow cartridge. Enter the codes carefully to ensure they work correctly.

The same process can be done on emulators, which should have a cheats tab in the software. The codes will match the Gameshark/Action Replay codes.
