PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, the first-ever CS2 Major, is almost here. With just a few weeks to go until the biggest CS2 tournament of the year kicks off, we’re taking a look at everything viewers can expect when the action begins in Copenhagen.
In total, PGL Major Copenhagen boasts a huge prize pool of $1,250,000 to play for, with the winners also receiving a direct invite to the BLAST Premier World Final 2024. There’s plenty on the line, and we’ll have you covered with ongoing coverage of the event as it unfolds. For now, here’s everything you need to know.
Every round of the first CS2 Major will be streamed live over on the official PGL Twitch channels. Come right here to the streams below to never miss a round of action at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024:
In total, there are 24 teams competing at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, having persevered through the brutal RMRs worldwide. Of these teams, 16 come in at the Opening Stage (formerly known as the Challengers Stage in previous Majors). Awaiting the winners here is the Elimination Stage (formerly known as the Legends Stage).
The tournament format starts with the Opening Stage, which runs from March 17th-20th, with the rules as follows:

The Elimination Stage follows the exact same format, with the top 8 teams moving on to the Playoffs instead. This runs from March 21st-24th. After this, there is a small break in play, with the Playoffs finally commencing between March 28th-31st under the following rules:
The RMRs for the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 provided some surprising results, with teams like Astralis, Liquid, and Falcons all missing out on the first CS2 Major. On the flip side, we have veterans such as FalleN, coldzera, and seized all competing at the Major, rolling back the years one more time on the big stage.

Our big favorites coming in at the Opening Stage are ENCE and Heroic. Under gla1ve, ENCE have looked reborn with its new Polish roster. The Danish four-time Major winner is looking to cement his legacy with yet another team, after leading Astralis to domination many moons ago. Heroic have came together impressively fast under new IGL kyxsan, with the other new additions in nicoodoz and NertZ providing much-needed firepower after losing jabbi and stavn. We’d be shocked if these two teams don’t make short work of the Opening Stage.
Also keep one eye on Eternal Fire in at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. The Turkish squad have shown they can punch with the best of them, but its young rifler Wicadia who has impressed us the most. If Wicadia is firing, Eternal Fire should make it to the Elimination Stage at the bare minimum.
Finally, we think TheMongolZ will be a real problem in Denmark. They’re the best team in Asia by some margin, with a roster capable of challenging with the top CS teams. At times, they’ve struggled to get over the finish line against world-class opposition, and if they can get over that hump here, who knows where the ceiling lies?

The two favorites already qualified for the elimination should be clear: Team Spirit and Team Vitality. On the back of their impressive IEM Katowice 2024 win, Spirit and donk look set to establish a period of dominance, with no one truly figuring out how to counter the young prodigy yet. Meanwhile, Vitality remain arguably the most consistent team on the planet, and you have to pin them as favorites as long as ZywOo is on the team.
You should also watch out for Virtus.pro. After a quiet 2023, we think they’re set to make a splash this year under Jame’s continued leadership. They’re the sort of team that can beat anyone on their day, and with fame and FL1T emerging as real stars of late, they can do some damage at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.
Our last team to watch is G2 Esports. They haven’t looked the same with nexa in place of jks, but we think they’ll have a few tricks up their sleeve at the Major. With m0NESY and NiKo on the server, you can never write them off. After NiKo failed to join the club of CS:GO Major winners, he now begins a new quest for the biggest prize on offer in CS2. Watch this space.

Contrary to previous CS Majors, the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 schedule doesn’t depend on RMR performance. Instead, it has been drawn based on the seedings from the Valve Team Rankings.
The first day promises to be a crazy day of Counter-Strike, with the 0:0, 1:0, and 0:1 matches all taking place in one day. While there are some banger match-ups, our pick for the best match that you just can’t miss is Eternal Fire vs TheMongolZ.
