Alex is no longer marrying his second cousin in Street Fighter 6 thanks to recent patch

Don’t worry, FGC esports fans: Street Fighter 6 has been fixed! No, not fighter balancing or gameplay changes. Whatever. Alex is no longer banging his cousin!
A mid-season patch was released in the middle of March, but it introduced a bug that prevented Drive Parry from working without reversal timing in certain scenarios. Capcom said at the time that they’d fix it in a future update. This led to the servers going down for maintenance last night.
Now, the patch is out, and Drive Rush has been fixed, and a few fighters have been balanced. But one thing I noticed is this single line in the patch notes: “Some of Alex’s World Tour story text has been adjusted in certain languages.”
Alex Gets His Backstory Changed in Street Fighter 6

When Alex was dropped into the roster, he was given his own World Tour and Arcade Mode, like every character. However, his story was a lot more questionable. You find out Alex married Patricia and is having a baby with her. But some dialogue already implied that they viewed each other as family since Patricia was his second cousin and acted as a sister to him.
Yep…
Now, Capcom has removed this dialogue to avoid any “confusion” on our end. So yeah, the two are still getting married and having a baby. But they’re not related, alright?
It’s pretty funny that this creepy little issue has stood out more than gameplay changes in this competitive fighter. However, it shows how important these characters are. Street Fighter has been around for decades, starting back in arcades. These are characters we all know. They’ve become iconic. We care about them.
People are invested in their backstories. And their bodies.
Street Fighter 6 patch notes
Universal Changes
Drive Parry
- Fixed an issue where after stopping an attack with Drive Parry and block stun ends, there was some period of time where Drive Rush couldn’t be performed.Input buffers when a Drive Rush overlaps with getting up from a knockdown
Drive Rush
- With the last update, we added an adjustment where the buffer input on wake-up was increased by 3 frames, but this allowed a situation where if the opponent performs a Drive Rush on specific frames during wake-up, the timing when buffer input was active occurred sooner than expected.
- To take care of this issue, if Drive Rush overlaps with a wake-up, the buffer input will be decreased by 3 frames so that the buffer input active time is the same as it was pre-Alex release.
- Fixed an issue with Modern controls where during certain mid-air techniques that can be used after jumping attacks (Dhalsim’s Yoga Float or Rashid’s Wing Stroke, etc), if the opponent activates Drive Rush, attempting to perform a jumping attack (assisted) with Auto+Attack during the screen flash would result in attacks not coming out for a certain period of time.
Fighter Changes
M. Bison
- Fixed an issue where Psycho Mine would stay embedded in the opponent whether it was detonated or not if a Drive Reversal is performed after blocking the 2nd attack.Normal/Overdrive Devil Reverse (with Psycho Mine embedded)
- Fixed an issue where the attack would not hit the opponent from behind under certain situations.
JP
- Fixed an issue where the attack startup was 1 frame faster when canceled from standing medium punch, standing heavy kick, crouching light kick, or crouching medium kick compared to other attacks.
