Asmongold calls out Twitch for “double standard” after getting banned for Middle East rant

World of Warcraft streamer Asmongold has been banned from Twitch, but has called it a “blatant double standard.”
On April 5th, the Twitch community got word that Asmongold had been banned from Twitch. But they weren’t left in the dark for too long. The streamer himself tweeted that he was banned for a week since he said he “doesn’t give a f*** about the opinions of illiterate third worlders.”
He then questioned if someone from the Middle East would be banned for saying they don’t care about what Americans think.
“Of course not, blatant double standard,” he said.
I can agree with one thing: Yeah, you won’t get banned for saying, “I don’t care what an American thinks.” But you also wouldn’t be banned for saying, “I don’t care what a Middle Eastern citizen thinks.” That’s clearly not what he said.
Anyway.
Twitch community argues if Asmongold deserved the ban or not
Asmongold has been sort of on a roll recently. This wasn’t the first time he had gone on a tangent about minority groups this last month even. A week ago, Asmongold said that “parasite migrants” are coming into the United States, calling it an “infection” that’s being funded.
“There is clearly a problem. There is clearly an affliction. And there is also, clearly, a solution,” he said.
I guess I am sort of morbidly curious why Asmongold is so afraid of immigrants coming into the United States. It’s not like they’re going to steal his job of sitting at a computer and yapping about politics all day. And it’s not like they are going to invade his house, which is probably in worse shape than the places he keeps calling “third world.”
This is a dude who used a dead rat as his alarm clock, waking up to the stench of the sun burning its flesh every morning.
My guess is that Twitch banned him over multiple instances of questionable rhetoric. Twitch has a Hateful Conduct policy that is meant to protect community members from attacks based on race, nationality, religion, and sexuality. Twitch stated in 2024: “The language used to cause harm and spread hate changes over time. To ensure our policies adapt to those changes, we review them and how they’re applied to prevent those harms.”
Whether you agree with Asmongold’s rants or not, you can’t really argue that it’s not hateful towards a group of people. It just is. Blatantly. However, many people’s issues stem from Twitch’s inconsistent rulings on these matters. Some believe that certain streamers are being unfairly targeted and punished, while others go free.
This has been an issue within the Twitch community for a very long time.
One side of the argument stated: “It’s okay for Hasan [Piker] to support terrorism. But Twitch draws the line when you speak the truth and bans you for a week lol Such a dumb, libtard ass company. The CEO is a piece of garbage and needs to go broke.”
The other side: “No double standard at all. You should have been suspended or perma banned by now with the disgusting things you say. You are a disgrace of an American and just part of the brainwashed cultist following the pedo in the Oval Office.”
Wasn’t he supposed to be playing World of Warcraft or something?
