Chinese Dota is Back with Xtreme Gaming
Team Spirit are the champions of the PGL Wallachia S1 after a gruesome final day. They played eight consecutive matches on their final day to defeat Team Falcons and eventually, Xtreme Gaming.
Yet, behind every champion’s success is a sulking runner-up, which gave their all in the grand finals too.
Xtreme Gaming’s season recap
Earlier this season, Xtreme Gaming came back with a veteran in their line-up. Wang “Ame” Chunyu is a Chinese Dota 2 player that has many peers’ respect, including Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk, who held high regards for the one he considered his only true rival.
So when the PGL Wallachia grand featured Ame vs Yatoro, we knew we were in for a treat.
Xtreme Gaming’s performance throughout the 2024 season has been relatively consistent. Their Elite League victory against Team Falcons is certainly a testament to their strength being on par the best teams in Dota right now.
While Xtreme was doing well in most tournaments, the same can’t be said for Team Spirit. The two-time champion has had a rough time throughout the season despite the high expectations, quoting issues in teamwork and discipline as causes for their fallout.

Grand Finals between Xtreme Gaming and Team Spirit
Fast forward to the PGL Wallachia S1, the two rivals managed to face off against one another for real. Making good use of the full best-of-five series, both teams made sure the grand finals series did not cut short.
With the full series spanning approximately 4 hours, even Team Spirit’s offlane player, Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov, had to express his exhaustion. In a post-match interview, Collapse shared how intense the series was, especially game 5. The game was back-and-forth with constant threats of split pushes on their Ancient’s lack of backdoor protection.
However, Xtreme ultimately made the mistake of getting caught out by Yatoro’s Anti-Mage. With buybacks expended and 2 minutes on the death timer, Xtreme finally called GG.
Disrespect from Miposhka
Team Spirit captain, Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naydenov was more smug about their close victory over Xtreme Gaming. As he joked that Ame “might not survive” another clash against them in the future.
This is likely a reference to how Team Spirit has halted multiple championship titles from Ame despite his phenomenal performance in various seasons.
A throwback to the International 2021 (TI10), whereby Ame and PSG.LGD lost to Team Spirit in a similar best-of-five fashion.
Healthy Dota 2 Esports
Despite the abolishment of Valve’s official Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) system, the Dota 2 competitive scene is getting better than ever.
This is evident from the presence of multiple strong powerhouses that isn’t just a single team. If we were to predict in Dota 2 Fantasy on which team will win the International 2024 and Riyadh Masters 2024, it’s a tough choice between Team Falcons, Team Spirit, Xtreme Gaming, and even BetBoom Team.
However, we will also reserve one spot for Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok’s upcoming team, which he plans to win both major Championships.

As such, Ame and Xtreme Gaming have once again proven their strength and deserving title as China’s Dota 2 representative, with or without their championship title.
