Is The Black Ops 2 Remake On The Way?
Black Ops 2 is often considered the best Call of Duty game ever made. At the very least, it boasted the best multiplayer platform that the series has ever seen. For years, fans have been crying out for a Black Ops 2 Remake, which is a topic that Activision isn’t exactly shy about. Historically, the company has dipped into the pool of titles to produce some remastered content – even if that just involves bringing maps back into the current era.
Recently, something strange emerged in the Call of Duty space that has fans querying whether a Black Ops 2 Remake is on the way. It would be a boon for players worldwide, especially those who experienced Black Ops 2 back in 2012 when it was first released. It effectively gave rise to the Call of Duty esports ecosystem we know today, as with the launch of Black Ops came the first official COD World Championship tournament.
Is Black Ops 2 Remastered Coming?
Recently, it was discovered that every Call of Duty page related to Black Ops is redirecting to the Black Ops 6 subpage. That’s because the game was just revealed and pre-orders are live now, so Activision is understandably driving traffic to the all-new title. However, it was quickly found that only Black Ops 2 isn’t redirecting to Black Ops 6, which has led many to believe that the Black Ops 2 subpage still serves a purpose.
Or it could be about to serve a purpose.
For several years, players have begged Activision to remake some specific Call of Duty titles, but none of them receives as much attention as a potential Black Ops 2 Remake. Boasting a phenomenal story, a solid Zombies offering, and one of the best and most balanced multiplayer platforms ever made, there’s a reason why it’s considered a contender for the best Call of Duty game ever made.
It also helps that it was the direct sequel to 2010’s Black Ops, which is one of the best-selling COD titles ever.
It’s impossible to say whether a Black Ops 2 Remake is set to surface, but it’s a tantalising prospect. There’s very little standing in the way of such a project emerging, but it’s whether it makes sense for it to be delivered. For instance, back in 2016, the COD 4 remaster was bundled with Infinite Warfare, and it took almost a year for it to be released as a standalone product. Could Black Ops 6 be bundled with a Black Ops 2 Remake, or are we just dreaming?
We’re probably just dreaming.
