COD’s Season 04 Reloaded Update is a Super-Powered Mixed Bag
Today, the Season 04 Reloaded update was released in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and Warzone. It’s a bountiful mixed bag of super-powered goodies, as the theme for this update is based around Amazon’s The Boys. Through this collaboration, three new Operator bundles have been added to the game, along with a set of superhuman field upgrade abilities for Warzone. It’s quite a diverse update – so we’ll try and cover it in as much depth as possible.
There’s everything from an all-new battle royale mode for Vondel, the newest map, to a new weapon – the MX Guardian Shotgun. There is a new Raid episode, a fresh public event, brand-new bundles, and an attractive map for fans to dive into. Not only that, but Activision (and all associated studios) have made countless changes to what was already in the game, including buffs, nerfs, and complete overhauls.
So, what’s new as part of the Season 04 Reloaded update? Read on.
Season 04 Reloaded is Super-Powered
There are a lot of changes being made to Warzone and DMZ for the Season 04 Reloaded update. For instance, Vondel now has a battle royale and a brand-new Gulag, and there’s The Boys’ branding slapped all over the maps. There’s a hot new field upgrade for Warzone known as Temp V which grants players one of four superhuman abilities at random: Charge Jump, Electric Shockwave, Laser Vision, and Teleport.
For 2,400 COD points each, players can buy The Boys operator packs, which all come with a charm, loading screen, sticker, and emblem. If you’re wondering when The Boys bundles will unlock, here are the dates:
- Starlight (Available Now)
- Homelander (July 16th)
- Black Noir (July 20th)
Elsewhere, sizeable additions are being made in the form of the finale for the Raid series, an all-new multiplayer map (Vondel Waterfront), and a revitalised playlist. In Warzone, there’s a new redeploy drone being added, and a ‘classified’ section in the battle pass has been opened up. There’s an intense set of challenges that players can complete to unlock The Boys: Diabolical Camo in Call of Duty, too:
- Assault Rifles: Get 50 Operator headshots
- Battle Rifles: Get 25 Operator kills from behind
- SMGs: Get 250 Operator kills
- Shotguns: Get 30 Operator kills while prone
- LMGs: Get 30 Operator kills while using a suppressor
- Marksman Rifles: Get 30 Operator kills while mounted
- Sniper Rifles: Get 3 kills without dying 10 times
- Sidearms: Get 50 enemy longshot kills
- Launcher: Get 40 Operator kills
- Melee: Get 30 enemy kills
It’s not an easy ask, that’s for sure.

Things Are Changing

There are some key changes coming to existing content with the Season 04 Reloaded update. For instance, cars no longer explode on Santa Sena Border Crossing, which is long overdue and a huge win for players the world over. Bizarrely, the TAQ-56, which is widely considered to be one of the best guns in Modern Warfare II, has seen a sizeable nerf applied to it.
Activision’s studios have also made a few changes to DMZ that might seem a little strange. For example, players now chasing down and killing too many players in DMZ will be penalised with a warning and then a bounty being placed on their heads. It’s a strange change that has left players perplexed, especially considering the sheer base nature of the extraction shooter genre.
Elsewhere, there are dozens of fixes, stability changes, and quality-of-life improvements being applied as part of the Season 04 Reloaded update.
It’s a great time to be a Call of Duty fan.
