G2 rebrands Call of Duty League Team From Minnesota Rokkr to G2 Minnesota

After toying with fans a little bit through a fake rebrand announcement, G2 Esports officially announced the rebrand of their Call of Duty League (CDL) team, formerly Minnesota Røkkr, to become G2 Minnesota.

Minnesota Rokkr was one of the first CDL brands announced before the franchised league officially launched in the 2020 season.

The franchise was led by WISE Ventures, a group that included business influencer Gary Vaynerchuk (better known as Gary Vee) and the Wilf family, owners of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings. They created Version1 to house their esports teams, which sometimes included rosters in Valorant and Rocket League.

In December 2023, Version1 announced a strategic partnership with G2, housing their rosters under the G2 banner. Now, their CDL franchise has followed suit by adopting the G2 moniker while still representing Minnesota.

The official announcement came shortly after G2, who are known for meming and having fun on their social media accounts, posted a prank on fans just a couple of hours earlier.

Their initial announcement brought us G2 Berlin, but rather than the German city in which G2’s League of Legends team dominates the LEC out of, it was Berlin, Wisconsin, much to the ire and confusion of the community and pro players alike.

After farming all the engagement they could, the new G2 brand was made official, not actually based in a random Wisconsin city or using the Green Bay Packers logo.

According to our sources and various reports, the new G2 Minnesota 2026 team is going to consist of a group of young stars looking to really make their name in the league after up-and-down careers so far.

The team is expected to be Justice “Estreal” McMillan, returning from a disappointing 2025 season, Kyle “Kremp” Haworth, 2023 world champion Cesar “Skyz” Bueno, and standout rookie Paul “Mamba” Solano.

Sources close to the situation have informed esports.net that the roster is all signed and ready for the launch of Black Ops 7 on November 14, though no formal announcement has yet been made.
