Warzone Mobile Update Finally Adds FOV Slider
These days, the FOV slider is one of the most common sights in a first-person shooter game. It’s that simple quality-of-life improvement that pleases gamers to no end, giving them the ability to see more on their screen, boosting their peripheral abilities and making it look as though things are ‘moving faster’. Recently, an all-new FOV slider was added to Warzone Mobile, but it has garnered a mixed response from the game’s fan base.
It took several weeks for the likes of Activision and Beenox to add this improvement to Warzone Mobile. It seems like a stock-standard inclusion in FPS games these days, but for some reason, it took a while to get it added to Warzone Mobile, one of the newest battle royale titles (technically) on the market.
Crank It Up To 120
If you’ve got a solid mobile device, you can crank Warzone Mobile’s FOV up to 120. That’s the maximum field-of-view value you’ll find in almost every game worldwide, and it offers the widest viewing angle possible. When compared to Warzone Mobile’s default FOV value, cranking it up to the max means you’re seeing 50% more than the average user. That’s a valuable edge to have in a fight, but if that’s the case, why are some users complaining about the new FOV slider?
Put simply, the more that’s on-screen at one time, the harder the device has to work to render and run it all. That means that users with older, weaker devices can’t crank their FOV up to the maximum level – some can’t move it away from the default setting at all. That in turn means that there’s a whole host of players with a boosted FOV while millions of other players are stuck with the default value.
That’s an imbalance.
It’s one of the core drawbacks of mobile gaming. As there are so many devices out there capable of playing these games, it stands to reason that not all of them will be able to drive Warzone Mobile at the same level. It’s a similar situation for PC gamers, and for console gamers, it’s almost a non-starter of a concern.
How do you feel about this new feature making its way into Warzone Mobile? It’s no big secret that the game has suffered from a slew of teething issues, but is this latest change a huge win or not?
