Who is Ghost?

Ghost is a legendary character that first emerged in 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. As a masked hero fighting for the forces of good, Ghost was a mysterious and exciting character, and his skills on the battlefield were almost unmatched. When he was reintroduced in 2022, he’d become sharper, faster, tougher, and even more secretive. In 2019, Captain Price – one of the best characters in Call of Duty history – stated that there will never be any pictures of Ghost, that’s just how mysterious a figure he is.

Ghost has proven himself to be a feared combatant on more than one occasion, effortlessly taking down entire compounds packed with enemies with brutal efficiency.

Oh, and if you’ve gotten confused and are asking, ‘Who is Simon Riley,’, then it’s simple – the answer is Ghost. That’s just Ghost’s real name.

In 2009, Simon Riley’s death in Modern Warfare 2 was a heartbreaking one. It was driven by betrayal and a traitorous act against him, but fortunately, in 2022’s Modern Warfare II, he survives a journey fraught with danger and risk.

The Closest We’ll Get to a Call of Duty Ghost Face Reveal

There was a short scene in 2022’s Modern Warfare II that showed more of Ghost’s face than we’ve ever seen before. It’s likely the closest we’ll ever get to a full Ghost face reveal, and it lasted just a few seconds:

It didn’t end there, though. While it’s not an official Ghost face reveal, dataminers were able to break deep into Modern Warfare II’s files to obtain an image of Ghost’s real face. It’s an honest, legitimate image, it just hasn’t been addressed by either Infinity Ward or Activision directly. It’s identifiable by the eyes when compared to the video above, and the rest of Ghost’s real face is a mirror image of the face of his voice actor, Samuel Roukin.

That’s why, for the most part, the Call of Duty Ghost face reveal was a little underwhelming. It didn’t turn out that Ghost was a grizzled, battle-worn, or intriguing-looking individual. He just looks like a regular – even baby-faced – man.

Facts About Call of Duty’s Ghost

Ghost – or Simon Riley, to give him his real name – is one of the most iconic Call of Duty characters in history. He’s a dominating, mysterious individual with a history that stretches back almost fifteen years, and he has popped up in several of the best Call of Duty games out there. There isn’t much information about Simon Riley – age, education, and most of his associations remain unknown.

But if you’re interested in Simon Riley’s height, we have that – he’s 6′ 2″.

Throughout the duration of his existence in the Call of Duty universe, Ghost’s voice actors have been Craig Fairbrass, Andrew Randall, Jeff Leach, and most recently, Samuel Roukin. As he’s had a presence as an in-game announcer at times, his voice has become instantly recognizable, synonymous with the Call of Duty multiplayer space.

He was born in Manchester, England, but we don’t know when. He was an apprentice butcher up until the September 11 attacks, following which, he joined the military. Now, if we know that the September 11 attacks were in 2001, and if Riley was an apprentice who then joined the army, he would have been between 16 and 18 years of age at the time. Given that Modern Warfare II takes place in 2022, his age can be placed at around 39 – 41, which seems about right given his record and stature.

But bizarrely, in Modern Warfare 3, which is set in 2016, Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley’s dog tags can be found in the mode called Kill Confirmed. Strangely, the date of birth on those dog tags is 2011, but the game itself was set in 2016. This could have been an error, though.
