100 Thieves Face Backlash in CS2 Return as Roobet Named Partner
Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag’s organization 100 Thieves have confirmed their return to Counter-Strike, announcing that they come back as 100 Thieves Roobet – and they’re getting some stick for it.
The team previously exited Counter-Strike in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, selling their Australian team just a year after signing them from Renegades.
100 Thieves Face Roobet Backlash
While many fans were excited to see 100 Thieves back in Counter-Strike, a strong contingent of fans was disappointed to see Roobet become a named partner of the team.
Some called the decision “shameless,” while others described it as “gross” to witness it happen.
One even said that “100T can fade into obscurity for all I care now.”

Who will 100 Thieves sign?
Rumours of 100 Thieves’ return to Counter-Strike have been rampant in recent weeks, with FaZe Clan star Havard “rain” Nygaard being touted as a star signing for the North American organization.
The Norwegian was recently benched by FaZe following the arrival of Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, and has since said that he is open to transitioning to the IGL role as he embarks on a new chapter in his career for the first time since 2016.
As for the rest of the roster, due to the VRS rules requiring three-man cores to hold ranking points, it has been suggested that 100 Thieves will target an existing core that already has strong points.
Previous newcomers to CS2, such as Gentle Mates, have been linked to the 3DMAX roster as a result of this rule, but OverDrive reported that 100 Thieves will instead target a core of players from GamerLegion.
Due to rain’s willingness to switch to IGLing, the belief was that 100 Thieves would then target the trio of Fredrik “REZ” Sterner, Sebastian “Tauson” Lindelof, and Oldrich “PR” Novy in order to secure their VRS points. Who they would sign as an AWPer is currently unknown, although it is unlikely to be Milan “hypex” Polowiec as he has thus far failed to impress in his short stint on GamerLegion.

Who else could they target?
Finding AWPers is hard, but not impossible. IEM Chengdu winners FURIA struck gold when pulling Danil “molodoy” Golubenko out of the tier two CIS scene, and there is always the possibility that 100 Thieves could do the same.
One possible name is Klimentil “kl1m” Krivosheev, the former G2 Ares AWPer who is currently on loan at MIBR. The 20-year-old Russian has been in stellar form since joining the Brazilian organization, picking up a 1.30 Rating in the past three months across 52 maps played.
Another option would be another player signed to G2, Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia. SunPayus has shown flashes of brilliance during his time on G2, but his inconsistency next to the solid rifle core they hold could see them pivot towards a returning kl1m in the new year. If that was the case, 100 Thieves would be foolish not to pounce for the Spaniard.
Whoever they do end up signing, 100 Thieves have said that each announcement will come with a donation to a charity of that player’s choice, “and that’s just the start.”
