100 Thieves Reportedly Planning Counter-Strike Return with Former FaZe Star rain
100 Thieves could be making a long-awaited comeback to Counter-Strike, with reports suggesting the organization has already secured the signature of FaZe Clan veteran Håvard “rain” Nygaard.
This would be 100 Thieves’ first Counter-Strike roster since their exit from CS:GO in 2020, but they’re an organization we named as one that should return in Counter-Strike 2.

Their last lineup reached the IEM Beijing 2019 grand final and climbed as high as fifth in the HLTV world rankings, before the organization ultimately pulled the plug.
100 Thieves Return after Five Years
The move for rain, first reported by Dust2.dk, marks what could be the first major step in the team’s long-awaited return to the Counter-Strike scene.
While details about the rest of the lineup remain uncertain, Russian insider Aleksei “OverDrive” Birukov has claimed that 100 Thieves’ top targets include three players from GamerLegion, suggesting the organization is aiming to build a roster with a proven foundation.
According to OverDrive, rain’s reported deal is dependent on 100 Thieves being able to assemble a competitive core around him.
A return has been on the cards for some time. In 2024, Jacob Toft-Andersen, president of 100 Thieves, stated on Reddit that re-entering Counter-Strike 2 was an active ambition for the company. With rain’s potential signing, that ambition appears closer to reality than ever.
For rain, this move would mark the end of an era. After more than eight years and close to 2,000 maps with FaZe Clan, the Norwegian rifler recently announced he was open to exploring new challenges.

His experience, consistency, and reputation make him a natural foundation for a roster rebuild, and his presence could help 100 Thieves attract additional high-level talent as they finalize their plans.
This comes at an interesting time for 100 Thieves, who have officially played their last match in League of Legends after being knocked out of LoL Worlds 2025 by Faker’s T1.
It appears that the money that will no longer be allocated to their LoL project can now be reinvested in other esports, with Counter-Strike at the top of the list.
