While the Deagle is of course a powerful tool, your money is better spent elsewhere early on.
It has to be the Deagle. For just $700, you have a killing machine that can destroy a helmeted enemy in a single hit. Admittedly, the skill ceiling is high, and you’ll need to be on top form to beat a full buy with a team of Deagles. But still, it’s the best chance you have. You don’t even need to buy armor – a miss with a Deagle likely spells death anyway.
Most would agree that it’s the R8 Revolver. Used in place of the Deagle, the R8 Revolver used to be overpowered before a 2015 nerf. At the moment, it’s expensive, and a little bit useless, mainly down to the time it takes to fire. When the Deagle is right there for $700, for most players the choice is a no-brainer.
Other than pistol and eco rounds, we’d only recommend you buy CS:GO pistols when you’re ahead and have plenty of cash to spare. Sometimes, you will have to pull out your sidearm to finish off an enemy. Usually, the default pistol is enough. But if you’re winning every round with cash to burn, it doesn’t hurt to grab an upgrade to give yourself the upper hand. Just make sure you’ve got everything you need first such as armor, utility, and a defuse kit for CTs. You’d feel extremely silly if you were unable to buy armor because of a poor financial mistake in the form of a pistol.
