BLAST.tv Austin Major Power Rankings: Know the Top Teams at the Major
The BLAST.tv Austin Major is here, and anticipation is at an all-time high. The best Counter-Strike teams have gathered with one goal in mind: to claim the Major trophy. The 2025 season has developed intense rivalries, promising to deliver unforgettable moments on the biggest stage.
Let’s take a look at the power rankings heading into Austin.
1. Team Vitality
This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Team Vitality is on the cusp of forging a new Counter-Strike era, and the way to achieve that goal is by winning here in Austin. They’ve mounted a 30-match win streak, capturing six tournaments in a row in 2025. Anything less than lifting the trophy would be a huge disappointment for this seemingly unstoppable squad.
2. Team Falcons
With added firepower in the form of m0NESY, Team Falcons look like the only team that can challenge Team Vitality, easily securing second place in the rankings. To claim the Major trophy, NiKo and m0NESY cannot be the only ones fragging. The Danish duo of TeSeS and Magisk must step up and provide the necessary support.
3. Team Spirit
The reigning Major champions, Team Spirit, look to defend their title. However, they no longer seem like the best team in the world. Still, the individuals on this squad are nothing to scoff at. If donk and sh1ro find their groove, they can easily take over games and win any matchup, though the Eastern European squad has looked shaky at times and will need to steady the ship.
4. MOUZ
MOUZ has been on an upward trajectory in 2025, consistently posting podium finishes at Tier 1 events, including several second-place finishes – often losing to Team Vitality in grand finals. Still, several members of the MOUZ roster tend to struggle in high-pressure matches, and the pressure will only increase at the Major. Though they are certainly capable of a deep run, finishing the job remains a challenge.
5. NAVI
The international squad of NAVI has looked like a shadow of their former selves. Despite their decline over the past few months, we can never count them out when it comes to a Major. Nobody expected them to win PGL Copenhagen, and the same narrative applies heading into Austin. With the strategic minds of Aleksib and B1ad3, we never know what NAVI has in store.
6. The MongolZ
The MongolZ have been performing exceptionally well lately, putting up strong fights against the best teams in the world. Though they have the mechanical skill and potential to go toe-to-toe with the top dogs, they always struggle in playoff matches, likely due to the young roster’s inexperience. They’ll have to overcome their stage fright to make a deep run here in Austin.
7. Aurora
Aurora has looked like a fierce contender this year but faces similar issues as The MongolZ – they consistently fail to perform in important matches. Although they often cruise through group stages to claim the top seed, they ultimately crumble in the playoffs. While XANTARES is playing some of his best Counter-Strike, the youngsters Wicadia and jottAAA must start firing on all cylinders.
8. FaZe Clan
Returning to the Major for the first time in CS2 will be Global Offensive’s greatest of all time – s1mple. The Ukrainian’s debut in a FaZe jersey didn’t go as planned at IEM Dallas, partly because rain was absent from the event. Though the full squad will enter Austin, FaZe remains a huge gamble – they’ll either be really good or really bad. Only time will tell.
9. Team Liquid
Though Team Liquid has shown visible improvement since appointing siuhy as the team’s in-game leader, the squad hasn’t yet demonstrated the level required to win a Major. NAF and ultimate have shown signs of inconsistency, hindering the team’s growth. However, with the Austin crowd potentially backing them, Team Liquid might be in for a decent run.
10. G2 Esports
G2 Esports had its roster shattered after losing m0NESY to Team Falcons and has struggled to find its footing with the new squad. They were forced to bring in hades as a stand-in, and while he’s no slouch, he’s not the third-best player of 2024. Still, with the sheer experience on the roster, G2 might be able to cause some damage in Austin.
The Rest of the Field
Apart from the top ten teams, the chances of others taking the title are uninspiring. However, teams like Virtus.Pro, FURIA, and HEROIC have the potential to surprise. If you’re looking for dark horses, these three teams might be ones to keep an eye on.
