Esports World Cup 2024 CS2: Quarter-Finals preview

The Playoffs of the Esports World Cup 2024 are already underway, with G2 having bested Spirit in the first match. However, there are three more matches still to play, with teams like FaZe, Vitality, and MOUZ all looking to secure a place in the Semi-Finals of the EWC 2024 CS2 tournament.
With day two of the Esports World Cup 2024 CS2 tournament done and dusted, here’s what we think the rest of the Quarter-Finals have in store!
Vitality vs. Virtus.pro

Based on Vitality‘s opening match against M80, don’t be surprised if they struggle a little against the Virtus.pro machine. VP looked immensely comfortable against an evenly-matched Complexity, while Vitality struggled against M80. It could just be first-day-back-at-work jitters, in which case, Vitality should take this series. However, with a Semi-Final spot on the line, we know Virtus.pro will be ready to make this match-up as tough as possible.
Our prediction: Vitality 2:1 Virtus.pro
MOUZ vs. FURIA

We’ve got a funny feeling about this one. Most would immediately point to MOUZ as huge favorites vs FURIA, but they’ve looked rusty upon their return from the player break. Meanwhile, FURIA reached the EWC 2024 CS2 Playoffs through the Last Chance bracket, where they had to take down three teams in one day. A real marathon run, if we ever saw one. This means they come in extremely warm, which could be enough to overcome MOUZ’s individual quality here. There’s something in the air for MOUZ vs. FURIA – don’t miss it.
Our prediction: MOUZ 1:2 FURIA
NAVI vs. FaZe

No matter the roster, we just love seeing NAVI and FaZe go head-to-head. It just feels right. At the Esports World Cup 2024, these two will face off in the Quarter Finals, with the winner getting the opportunity to crush the other’s EWC key. It’s a sweet bonus for the victor here, adding a little extra spice to an already fierce rivalry. Of the two, we barely want to call it. Neither team has particularly impressed so far, making this match a real 50/50 affair. We’ll hold our breath and give FaZe the edge – their X-factor means they can win any game, so long as their stars show up.
Our prediction: NAVI 1:2 FaZe
