FACEIT Season 7 Changes Will Finally Beat Hackers & Smurfs
With FACEIT Season 7 set to begin on November 19, the digital platform is rolling out widescale changes in an effort to finally tackle the smurfing and cheating problems that plague their matchmaking services.
Despite many improvements to their anti-cheat software over the past 12 months, the platform consistently comes under fire for these issues, which they now hope to address through revolutionising their verification and reporting processes.

Targeting accounts
Although it is possible to play on FACEIT without an account being verified, accounts with a verified status are able to pay for premium matchmaking experiences and are prioritised to match against other verified accounts. However, with the verification process being simple, it’s an easy system for dishonest players to bypass.
The new changes will now force untrustworthy accounts to re-verify their accounts at a moment’s notice. This means that players who have purchased verified accounts, or use someone else’s ID to play on a verified account, may now lose access to the matchmaking services as a result of needing to re-verify thanks to untrustworthy behaviour.
FACEIT also states that they are scaling their integrity review process. They say that this will start with the highest-ranked players, with some of them being required to verify their account history via a video call. In even more extreme cases, certain players may have to attend a supervised play session, much like Robin “ropz” Kool or nocries.
Premium Super Matches have also seen changes within this update. Previously, those matches allowed non-verified accounts with a FACEIT Premium subscription to queue in them after just 30 games changed, but that will no longer be the case once the changes come into effect.
Instead, those matches will now be called “Premium Match.” In those matches, only verified accounts with a Premium subscription will be allowed to queue, and those accounts must meet a minimum of 50 to 600 games played, depending on the skill level of the account. This veteran system will also be applied beyond Premium Match, allowing players with a high number of games to enable veteran-only matches within standard queues.
Improved reporting system
The Season 7 update also sees the FACEIT reporting system undergo changes. The current system utilises the FBI (FACEIT Behaviour Index) thumbs-down icon, which enables players to leave a brief comment based on a selected category; however, this will now be replaced.
In its place, a more detailed system arrives, improving the quality of reports for FACEIT admins to review. The new report system will allow players to pinpoint the exact rounds where suspicious or unsportsmanlike behaviour took place, as well as the ability to include screenshots or videos as supporting evidence.
FACEIT states that these high-quality reviews will be prioritised over spam reports, aiming to enable faster ban of real offenders. They also say that communication regarding these reviews will be improved, giving more frequent notifications based on receipt, review, and resolution of a report.
