FMPONE officially releases Cache for CS2
Counter-Strike players, this is not a drill. Cache is back in CS2! Map creator FMPONE has finally released his latest version of Cache, giving the map an impressive makeover. While it will likely be a while before we know all the secrets and changes that Cache in CS2 has, right now, it’s time to enjoy the return of one of the best Counter-Strike maps of all time.

Cache can now be downloaded on the Steam Workshop. It’s worth remembering that the map won’t be available in matchmaking yet, until Valve decides to add it back completely. Another of FMPONE’s maps, Thera, was previously part of CS2’s casual matchmaking rotation, so it’s a safe bet to assume that Cache will eventually make its way in too.
For now, gamers wanting to play Cache will have to find community matches, or get together with nine friends to make a match happen. Personally, I’ll be seeking out matches wherever I can, and I can’t wait to see how it plays in CS2.
Will Cache return to Active Duty?

The big question is whether Cache will ever return to Active Duty. It has been out of the competitive Counter-Strike map pool since 2019, and fans are clamoring to see it return. It’s played host to some of the most iconic Counter-Strike clips ever, from s1mple’s falling AWP to NiKo’s Deagle ace. Now, it’s time for a new generation of legends to make their own highlights on the map.
One thing is for sure: Cache won’t be available in Active Duty immediately – Valve recently changed out Vertigo for Train, and so a new change likely won’t come until at least after the BLAST.tv Austin Major. Then, you’ve still got Overpass waiting in the wings to return. It’s more likely we’ll see the playtests fixing any major playability issues over the next year or so, then we’ll see it come back in competitive play. One can hope, anyway.
