Fnatic bench CS2 coach Casle after just four months
Fnatic has moved Peter “casle” Ardenskjold, their CS2 head coach, to the inactive roster this Thursday, May 8. Fnatic’s decision to bench casle comes after a string of bad results in tier-two tournaments all year.

I believe the most impactful part was the fact that Fnatic failed to qualify for the BLAST.tv Austin Major after crashing out of the European Regional Qualifier in April.
Casle was working as Fnatic’s CS2 head coach since January, having replaced Jamie “keita” Hall. The Danish coach will now most likely look to join another team, especially because many organizations will make changes in the upcoming off-season. He most notably coached Astralis in 2023.
Fnatic comments on Casle’s move: “This change reflects a strategic shift in coaching direction”
While Fnatic didn’t bring up the bad results in the announcement of casle’s benching, the organization mentioned that it will go after a different type of coach.
“Peter joined during a transitional phase and approached the role with professionalism, commitment, and a clear focus on team development […] as the team continues to evolve its leadership model, this change reflects a strategic shift in coaching direction.” – Fnatic said in an official statement published on X.
The transitional phase cited by Fnatic likely refers to the recent additions of Ukrainian in-game leader Rodyon “fear” Smyk and Ukrainian AWPer Dmytro “jambo” Semera, who left Passion UA to join Fnatic this year.
With that in mind, it’s possible that Fnatic may add a coach from the CIS region to work closely with both fear and jambo without the language barrier factor.
While Fnatic searches for a new CS2 head coach, it’s their assistant coach Miks “Independent” Siliņš who will step in casle’s place. The Latvian will oversee Fnatic in the online tournament Tipsport Conquest of Prague, which kicks off today.
Fnatic play against the Czech team ECLOT in their Tipsport Conquest of Prague debut.
