FURIA Reverse Sweep NAVI to Win Thunderpick CS2 World Championship
FURIA have been in incredible form in Counter-Strike 2 since the arrivals of Mareks “YEKINDAR” Galinskis and Danil “molodoy” Golubenko, and after winning FISSURE Playground 2 they have now claimed their second trophy of the year at the Thunderpick World Championships, doing so in historic fashion.
It took a Herculean effort in order for the Brazilian organization to pull the win off. NAVI opened the series with two map wins, paving the way for FURIA to pull off something that had only ever been done once before in CS history.

Furia Pull Off the Reverse Sweep
NAVI came into the final hot off the back of taking down Esports World Cup winners The MongolZ in the semi-finals, and that confidence showed as they dominated Mirage 13-6. Their two stars Valeriy “b1t” Vakhovskiy and Mihai “iM” Ivan were the main driving forces behind that dominance, they each picked up 19 kills to help limit FURIA to just two rounds from their CT side.
The Ukrainian organization then carried that momentum even further, securing Inferno with another comfortable scoreline, this time 13-9. iM continued to fire on all cylinders, but was joined by NAVI’s newest addition Drin “makazze” Shaqiri as the duo combined for 34 frags.
FURIA finally came alive on Nuke. Their captain Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo led by example, racking up 20 kills to drag his team back into the game as FURIA converted a solid 8-4 CT half into a 13-8 win.

Eastern European imports YEKINDAR and molodoy then picked up the slack on Dust2. The Kazakh AWPer was particularly impressive on the T side, going 15-8 with four multi-kills to keep NAVI restricted to just four CT rounds. YEKINDAR then confirmed the map win on the CT side, his 168 ADR kept NAVI’s HP low so that the rest of his team could mop up the kills and close it out 13-5.
Sent to Train for the decider, it ended up being the most dominant map of all. Train became the molodoy show once more, the AWPer went absolutely nuclear on the CT side as he found four opening kills in a half that saw him end with a 17-2 statline.
NAVI’s infamous mastermind Andrey “B1ad3” Gorodenskiy called timeout after timeout to try and stop the dominance, but FURIA’s armour proved to be impenetrable, and they rounded out the reverse sweep with a 13-1 win off the back of an 11-1 CT side.
FURIA took home $200,000 for winning the tournament as well as $300,000 in club share. However, and perhaps more importantly in terms of CS history, Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato was granted his first MVP award, something he has been chasing ever since bursting into the spotlight in 2018.
