HEROIC announced this Tuesday, May 27, that Álvaro “SunPayus” García and Eetu “sAw” Saha will move to G2 after the BLAST Austin Major 2025 in June.
Sheep Esports had already leaked the move earlier this month, and HEROIC had planned to announce the sale after the Major. However, because HEROIC and G2 are participating in the Major, the former had to announce this now, as Valve requires public disclosure of all conflicts of interest involving teams and players ahead of every Major.
“SAw and SunPayus will join G2 after the Austin Major, HEROIC announced on X.
“We wanted to announce the move after the event, but BLAST & Gaven love a good spoiler (conflict of interest rules). We are grateful to both and will celebrate their time in HEROIC properly later. But first, one last line dance in Austin. This means that we are back in the kitchen, and we’re cooking something real spicy.”
SunPayus joined HEROIC in January and spearheaded their team of youngsters following the departures of René “TeSeS” Madsen, Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski, and Abdul “degster” Gasanov to Falcons. SAw, on the other hand, had been working for HEROIC since December 2023 and helped the organization to rebuild its CS2 division twice.
This means that HEROIC will have to rebuild again after the BLAST.tv Austin Major, this time without sAw at the helm.

The addition of SunPayus will come at a time when G2 is in dire need of a new AWPer after selling Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov to Falcons in April. While the Spaniard isn’t as flashy or carries games as m0NESY, he’s about the best AWPer G2 could sign at this time.
SunPayus is a reliable AWPer with proven experience in tier-one CS tournaments. Plus, G2 will probably get the best out of his skills as sAw will replace their current head coach Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas.
Just like SunPayus, sAw brings plenty of tier-one experience and has earned a reputation as one of the best coaches in the scene. The Finnish coach is known for discovering young talent and building strong rosters on a budget—an approach G2 may rely on after losing generational players like Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and m0NESY.
SAw built successful rosters at both ENCE and HEROIC, his two former teams, so G2 is expected to give him influence over roster decisions instead of leaving all choices to management.
While only time will tell if these moves will be enough to make G2 put up a fight against the likes of superteams such as Vitality, Falcons, and Team Spirit, they’ll have at least a cohesive roster in their hands.
With the additions of SunPayus and sAw, this will be G2’s lineup after the Major:
