How to fast forward CS2 replay – Learn From Your Mistakes
In CS2, players can download and re-watch their games through the in-game replay system or study professional players’ demos to improve their understanding of the game. However, most people either don’t have time or don’t want to sit through 45 minutes of gameplay.
That’s why it’s useful to learn all the ins and outs of the CS2 demo player and, most importantly, how to fast forward CS2 replay.
How to watch a CS2 replay
Players can access the CS2 match-viewing features by clicking on the TV icon located in the top left of the menu screen. There you can download your most recent Premier and Competitive games to watch in the demo viewer.
When your desired match finishes downloading, click on the watch button and wait for the replay to load. Now that you’re in the server, you can speed up your viewing experience using the fast-forward function – but how?
How to fast forward CS2 replay
There are two main ways to fast-forward CS2 replays; using:
- The Demo UI
- Console Commands
Firstly, if you don’t know how to use CS2 console commands, read our guide on the topic before returning to this article.
When watching the replay, use the Shift + F2 shortcut to use the demo UI. It will enable you to fast forward, slow down, rewind, pause, resume, and so on. You can also enable it through the developer’s console with the following command – demoui.
If you’re not a fan of clicking buttons and prefer using the console, you can also fast-forward CS2 replays with a simple command – demo_timescale [value]. Depending on the value, the replay will fast forward at adequate speed.
Why watch CS2 replays
Watching your games back and analyzing your mistakes is said to be one of the fastest ways to get better at Counter-Strike 2. It helps players view the game more holistically, focusing on the macro of the match.
However, watching professional players’ demos is also a great way to spot the little things they do that elevate them above the rest. There’s no better way to learn how to play a particular spot on a map than studying a pro at work.
