PGL Announces CS2 Major Singapore 2026: First Major in Southeast Asia
PGL has officially unveiled that they will be hosting a Counter-Strike 2 Major in Singapore in 2026. PGL Singapore Major 2026, set for late 2026, marks the first Counter-Strike 2 Major to take place in Southeast Asia.
The tournament will feature a $1,250,000 prize pool, with the final taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, a venue that typically hosts major concerts, sporting events, and previous esports tournaments. The final four days, including a Best-of-5 Grand Final, will be played in front of thousands of fans, with PGL promising an atmosphere worthy of the game’s biggest stage.
First Ever CS2 Major in SEA
The Singapore Major will follow the standard three-stage format familiar to Counter-Strike fans, bringing together teams from every key region.
But the location itself is the real headline, as this is the first CS2 Major ever hosted in Southeast Asia. While the scene has traditionally centered around Europe and North America, the esport have recently expanded into new countries and cities — from events in Kazakhstan to earlier Majors in Krakow and Stockholm.
Singapore is no stranger to top-tier esports, having hosted events such as the DOTA 2 Singapore Major and The International 2022.
PGL Becoming a Mainstay On CS Major Calendar
The 2026 Singapore Major becomes PGL’s fifth Counter-Strike Major, and impressively, its fourth in the last five years.
PGL CEO Silviu Stroie said the return to Singapore felt both natural and overdue: “Bringing the first Counter-Strike Major to Singapore is a moment that truly inspires us. This city has been home to some of our most memorable esports events, and we’ve always felt the energy and passion of the fans here. Returning now with a Counter-Strike Major feels like the natural next step. Our goal is to honor the legacy of Counter-Strike by delivering an event worthy of the community’s dedication and love for the game.”
The Singapore Tourism Board echoed that excitement. Ms Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive (Experience Development Group), highlighted what the Major means for the region: “Singapore has been host to exciting esports events such as The International… and we look forward with much anticipation to hosting our first Counter Strike Major in 2026… As one of the most prestigious tournaments in the Counter Strike scene, the event promises to attract fans from around the region, and we invite them to also enjoy Singapore’s lifestyle experiences and vibrant energy.”
PGL Singapore Major is due to take place from November 25 to December 13, 2026. It may look slightly different from current Majors, as our sources have mentioned potential plans to make all Swiss Stage matches best of 3 at Majors, eliminating the best of 1 games.
