PGL Bucharest 2025 Opening Matches Preview & Predictions

In collaboration with

PGL Bucharest 2025 is here –  get set for a full week of intense Counter-Strike action. It all begins with the first day of opening matches, where all 16 teams will take to the server to get off to a flying start in Romania.

We’re taking a look at the first set of matches at PGL Bucharest 2025 to predict which teams will emerge from day one as winners.

The MongolZ vs. 3DMAX

Under the right circumstances, The MongolZ vs. 3DMAX could get weird. Most would put the Mongolian outfit as favorites here, but the French 3DMAX roster have had some good results of late. Regardless, I think PGL Bucharest 2025 is an event The MongolZ will fancy themselves as favorites in, and they’ll want to come out the gates with confidence. 2:0 to The MongolZ incoming.

My prediction: The MongolZ 2:0 3DMAX

Virtus.pro vs. Rare Atom

Rare Atom keep showing up to Tier 1 events every few months, but have yet to make any real impact. Virtus.pro are incredibly inconsistent, but it’s hard to see any scenario where they don’t 2:0 Rare Atom in this one. It should be an easy one to predict (in theory).

My prediction: Virtus.pro 2:0 Rare Atom

Falcons vs. Complexity

Despite some solid recent results online, there’s very little evidence to suggest Complexity are going to be a threat on LAN. I’ve not been at all impressed with the team in 2025, and they shouldn’t have enough quality to match what Falcons have to offer. After Falcons’ elimination from BLAST Open Spring 2025, the mood seemed totally dour in the team, but I reckon they’ll be in a good place to bounce back to kick off PGL Bucharest 2025.

My prediction: Falcons 2:0 Complexity

G2 vs. GamerLegion

G2 have failed to impress anyone in 2025. GamerLegion continue to produce impressive results for their limited resources. That said, the m0NESY factor can’t be ignored. He’s still G2’s main carry, and I think he’ll be the difference in a series that will ultimately prove to be very competitive.

My prediction: G2 2:1 GamerLegion

Eternal Fire vs. paiN Gaming

Eternal Fire seem to be attending every single event possible in the chase for that elusive Tier 1 trophy lift. The fatigue has seemed to take its toll on the team of late, but they’re still much stronger than paiN Gaming, who look to have stagnated in 2025. Tiredness vs. a distinct lack of quality – I’m giving this one to Eternal Fire, but just barely.

My prediction: Eternal Fire 2:1 paiN Gaming

Liquid vs. Legacy

Legacy have made plenty of changes over the last year, cycling between Brazilian players before settling on the current iteration. It’s a bit of a hodge-podge roster. And yes, Liquid aren’t great at the moment, but they should win this series 2:0 with ease. It’s rumored to be the siuhy debut, so let’s see how it shakes out.

My prediction: Liquid 2:0 Legacy

FaZe vs. Astralis

A rematch of the epic PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 third-place decider match, FaZe vs. Astralis is always a fun matchup. Let’s be honest – both have had a pretty bad 2025 so far, but this is a good chance for one to get a solid win over the other and turn their fortunes around. It’s a bit of a coin-flip match, so I’m giving it to FaZe based on their higher floor.

My prediction: FaZe 2:1 Astralis

FURIA vs. Apogee

Apogee completed their miracle run through the open qualifiers to reach PGL Bucharest 2025, beating some solid teams along the way. For FURIA, it seems like there’s no floor to their poor form. That said, I think experience will be important in this opener. Apogee might be able to shock the Brazilians to take a map, but I find it hard to see a full series win here.

My prediction: FURIA 2:1 Apogee
