The MongolZ crash out of BLAST Premier Fall Showdown qualification

Over the last few months, The MongolZ have established themselves as the best CS2 team in Asia. However, after a rough performance in a regional qualifier, The MongolZ have failed to secure qualification to the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2024.

The MongolZ’s win at YaLLa Compass 2024 turned heads just before the player break. They were seen as a real challenger to the Tier 1 scene, a team ready to make the step up and consistently reach the Playoffs of top tournaments. At a minimum, they won’t be attending BLAST’s CS2 tournaments in the second half of the year, after failing to qualify for the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2024.
Their qualification actually got off to a winning start, taking down Steel Helmet in the opener. However, a punishing best-of-one Groups format meant that a loss to Rare Atom left them one match away from elimination. Even then, CatEvil shouldn’t have had any chance against The MongolZ, but a close 13:11 match went the way of the former. It was a massive upset, ensuring that The MongolZ won’t get the chance to prove themselves at many of the biggest CS2 tournaments of the year.
What next for The MongolZ?

Luckily for The MongolZ, the second half of 2024 should still be a busy period for the team. They have already secured a spot at IEM Cologne 2024, while their ESL World Ranking should be high enough to secure a slot at IEM Rio 2024. Despite this loss to CatEvil, you would still have them down as huge favorites to qualify from the Asia RMR when the time comes for the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024.
Next up for The MongolZ is the Esports World Cup 2024. Can they put this setback behind them and shock the world in Riyadh? Let’s find out.
