After last month’s EU Qualifier, the South American qualifier for the Thunderpick World Championship 2024 is now well underway. The Round of 16 has come to an end, and we’re going to discuss some of the results from the last few days of play.

After a disappointing ESL Pro League Season 19, Imperial have swiftly picked themselves back up to get off to a winning start in the Thunderpick World Championship 2024 SA Qualifiers. Lionel Messi and Sergio Agüero’s Argentinian team KRÜ were the victims here, only managing to pick up a total of 9 rounds across Inferno and Nuke.
Although the hype around Imperial often focuses on its young guns in noway and decenty, it was the older heads who carried here. HEN1 and felps left KRÜ with no chance, ensuring the favorites progressed from the Round of 16 here. Next up for Imperial is BESTIA, another Argentinian roster. However, you’d still favor the Brazilians in that match-up.
Overall, the Round of 16 of the Thunderpick World Championship 2024 SA Qualifiers was defined by the favorites moving on to the next stage of play. Fluxo, with new players arT and nicks in place, managed to reverse-sweep Vikings KR, and they’ll be disappointed it was ever that close. ODDIK beat Corinthians with ease, while 9z won by default as inSanitY forfeited their matchup.
RED Canids also got off to a winning start, with coldzera in scintillating form after his transfer from Legacy. However, they did lose their second match against Sharks, who initially had defeated W7M in the Round of 16 a few days back. Sharks are coming off the back of ESL Pro League Season 19, so it’s no surprise they’re coming into these matches a little warmer than other teams.
The Thunderpick World Championship 2024 SA Qualifiers continue with the Quarter-Finals today, with Imperial vs. Bestia, Fluxo vs. ODDIK, and 9z vs. Galorys.
