How to Get to Moonrise Towers in Bladur’s Gate 3

The quest design is one of the best features of Baldur’s Gate 3. One of the best quests in the game is right near the end of the first act and serves as a bit of a skill check for players on their combat skills and party management. This quest is the journey to Moonrise Towers. In this walkthrough, we’ll teach you how to get to Moonrise Towers in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldurs Gate 3 Moonrise Towers

The journey to Moonrise Towers is one of the more challenging yet exciting quests in the first act of Baldur’s Gate 3.

This quest is triggered after completing “Rescuing the Druid Halsin” quest, picking up the reward from Rath, and speaking to Halsin the night after celebrating the downfall of the Goblin leaders with the group at your camp.

This quest carefully sets up the second act of the game and, as such, would test your skills and abilities in-game.

How to Get To Moonrise Towers in Baldur’s Gate 3

There are 2 paths to Moonrise Towers: The Underdark and The Mountain Pass. Both filled to the brim with puzzles, side quests, and enemies. The path you choose ultimately boils down to preference. But realistically, there’s nothing stopping you playing through both areas and farming that XP.

In fact, if you don’t complete both, you’ll miss out on some really interesting story beats, especially if you have Lae’Zel in your party.

Underdark

Knowing how to get to Moonrise Towers in Baldur’s Gate 3 is easier said than done. To go through the Underdark, the first thing you’ll need to do is find it! This is easier said than done but there are a couple of routes.

The Blighted Village

There are secrets hiding under this goblin infested place. Make your way over to the well in the centre of the village and climb down the rope. We really wouldn’t recommend this route if you’re arachnophobic though. You’ll need to fight some massive teleporting spiders before you can get to the Underdark.

The Defiled Temple

This is right near the end of Act 1 in the goblin camp. Whether or not you choose to side with Minthara or the Druids, you can get to the Underdark through Priestess Gut’s room. You’ll need to solve a tricky puzzle or pass some perception checks to open the doors though.

Auntie Ethel’s Teahouse

If you’re ready for a fight, you can take on the Hag and explore the Teahouse. Entering the fireplace will lead you to Mayrina hanging over a “bottomless pit”. You’ll need to keep some Feather Fall scrolls on hand if you want to jump into it and find yourself in the Underdark.

Once you make it into the Underdark, there are a tonne of quests to complete. This area is huge and you can level up a couple of times by completing everything. Just as in DnD, it’s a brutal environment – you may want to look into changing the BG3 difficulty settings if you’re afraid of a TPK!

  1. Reach the Underdark: You’ll find a hidden entrance near the Myconid Colony after completing the quest “Myconid Whisper.”
  2. Navigate the Underdark: The Underdark is a vast and dangerous network of tunnels. Fight or evade hostile creatures while searching for Moonrise Towers.
  3. Infiltrate Moonrise Towers: The towers are crawling with cultists. Use stealth or combat to reach the prisoners
  4. Free the Prisoners: There are multiple ways to achieve this: stealth, combat or deception.
  5. Escape the Underdark: After freeing the prisoners, fight your way back to the surface world through the Underdark tunnels.
  6. Return to the Myconid Colony: Report your success (or failure) to the Myconids.

Mountain Pass

The Mountain Pass route is still just as hard as the Underdark and is a huge part of how to get to Moonrise Towers in Baldur’s Gate 3. If Lae’Zel is in your party, it’s a great way to progress her story since you’ll find the Githyanki Creche along this road.

To get to the Mountain Pass, there are a couple of routes again.

Through the Goblin Camp. Ezpz – as soon as you complete the Goblin Camp, you can make your way to the east of the entrance.

Through the Risen Road – If you make your way along the Risen Road, you’ll find the gateway to the Mountain Pass in the north west of the map. This is also a great way to trigger another of Lae’Zel’s story beats since you’ll encounter some aggressive Githyankis along the way.

The path to Moonrise Towers should not be tread lightly as the game doesn’t hold back regarding quest difficulty. You can check out Baldur’s Gate 3 tips and tricks for more help. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Moonrise Tower quest is clearly and undoubtedly one of the best quests in the game’s first act, so if you haven’t tried it out yet, you have something to look forward to.
