Dota 2 Adds Hero Base Cosmetic Slot To Make Arcana Skins That Much Cooler

The highly anticipated Crownfall Act 3 update finally arrived on June 39 (July 9) in Valve’s calendar. With it, ships two cosmetics update that left the Dota 2 skin connoisseurs in awe.

Dota 2 Hero Base for Arcana effects

Hero Base is a new cosmetic slot available for Juggernaut, Pudge, a few cosmetic-heavy heroes. Essentially, these are slots to equip the Arcana skins’ special effects, Bladeform Legacy and The Feast of Abscession respectively. However, what makes this new cosmetic update even cooler is that it’s not just the Arcana’s particles or shiny ambient that are equipped on the Hero Base slot. Additionally, both Arcanas are now divided into multiple parts, with Juggernaut’s Arcana headpiece and Pudge’s hooks on chains backpiece being equipable in their respective slots.

This makes for a more cohesive set combo using the Arcana effects and design cues. Traditionally, high-quality sets that have good masks for Juggernaut or back pieces for Pudge are less appealing because they would have to replace their Arcana skin on these slots.

The Hero Base feature ships with the Crownfall Collector’s Cache, which coincidentally has ultra-rare sets for the two aforementioned heroes. And let’s just say they look phenomenal.

Hero Base for every Arcana

The new concept of Hero Base for Juggernaut and Pudge Arcana received widespread praise from the Dota 2 community, who want the same for every other hero that has an Arcana. This includes Rubick, Zeus, Shadow Fiend, and especially, Lina.

Lina’s Arcana is the first Arcana ever, which was great when it was initially released but is outdated compared to what other Arcana skins offer in terms of particles and customized skill effects. As such, having a Hero Base for Lina, notably maintaining her fiery hairstyle’s design cue would make Lina great again. After all, there is no shortage of Dota 2 skins to use when there are heroes that even has Personas as an alternative skin, like Pudge.

This certainly isn’t the first time the Dota 2 dev team has shipped such a feature. A good example was the Immortal items’ customized skill effects being equipable without the Immortal item itself. This lets players enjoy their favorite Collector’s Cache sets without compromising on using Immortal items that may not fit the overall design theme of a set.

Anyways, if you’re looking to mix some cool Juggernaut head piece with Juggernaut’s Arcana as the Hero base, be prepared to pay a hefty amount. Most of the fancy Juggernaut head pieces on Steam Market are already hitting all-time highs thanks to the debut of Dota 2 Hero Base slot.
