Aurora Snatch Vici Gaming Star Offlaner Ws to Complete Dota 2 Roster
Eastern European Dota 2 squad Aurora is coming back with more roster changes ahead of the 2026 season. After a lacklustre end to the year, the team signed rising offlaner Chung “Ws” Wei Shen and gave Oleh “kaori” Medvedok a second shot.
Aurora’s newest recruits come just days after the organization confirmed that TI winner Alexander “TORONTOTOKYO” Khertek is taking a break from competitive play, while support player Chan “Oli” Chon Kien was dropped after only three months on the team.
Aurora Rebuilds for New Year
Despite having heavy hitters on the roster, Aurora failed to make a real splash in 2025. The squad would frequently attend the biggest events, but ultimately bow out in the top eight most of the time. It was clear changes had to be made, which is why they made a bold move with their new signings.
To start the year with a new approach, Aurora signed Ws from Vici Gaming and welcomed back former support kaori, who previously played for the team.
Aurora’s new lineup is as follows:
- Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko
- Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman
- Chung “Ws” Wei Shen
- Myroslav “Mira” Kolpakov
- Oleh “kaori” Medvedok
Meet Ws: Aurora’s New Prodigy
Ws arrives as Aurora’s most surprising signing, with the organization reaching all the way into Southeast Asia for the third time to secure one of the region’s rising stars.
20-year-old Ws kickstarted his professional Dota 2 career playing for Talon Esports, alongside mid-laner Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman. Though he had mainly kept a low profile, Ws started making a name for himself internationally when he became the first player in the world to reach the 15,000 MMR milestone, making it clear he was a mechanical monster.

More recently, the Malaysian’s talents were recognized by legendary Chinese organization Vici Gaming. The team had just gone through a massive rebuild, signing three members from the former Team Tidebound roster, making Aurora’s move to pry Ws away all the more unexpected.
It’s pretty rare to see European teams import players from Southeast Asia, with only a handful making the move – most notably Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon on Tundra Esports, and more recently, Mikoto’s own transfer to Aurora. Now, Ws joins the short list to follow that path, reuniting with his former mid-laner on foreign soil.
Kaori Rejoins Aurora after PGL Wallachia Success
While Ws is the headline for Aurora’s rebuild, the team also opted for a familiar face in the support role by bringing back Ukrainian support kaori to round out the lineup. He previously represented the Aurora banner when the team attempted to relocate to Southeast Asia, though that iteration lasted only several months.
Kaori arrives in strong form as well, having recently won PGL Wallachia Season 6 while acting as a stand-in for MOUZ. He looks to form a fierce support duo with two-time TI winner Mira by his side.
Overall, Aurora’s new roster looks stacked. Nightfall is currently ranked 3rd on the European leaderboards, with kaori sitting at 20th. On the Southeast Asian side, Ws is ranked 2nd, with Mikoto close behind at 8th. To tie everything together, Mira is present as one of the most accomplished support players in Dota 2 to bring the veteran experience that will anchor the lineup.
