Who runs the best Dota 2 tournaments of 2024?
The International Championship held every year by Valve, the Dota 2 creators themselves, may sound like the best answer to the best Dota 2 tournaments in 2024.
However, for the uninitiated, Valve has been partnering with PGL to host the International (TI) Championship series since 2016. With the dwindling prize pools due to lack of community funding and battle pass, TI has become just another one of the many Dota 2 tournaments.
Riyadh Masters 2024 – Tournament with largest prize pool
In fact, the title for tournament with the largest prize pool now belongs to the Riyadh Masters series. Last year, Riyadh Masters offered a whopping $15 million prize pool, with this year at a respectable $5 million. It’s still twice the prize pool of the International 2024, so that’s a big deal in terms of the best Dota 2 tournaments of 2024.
Besides prize pools, Riyadh Masters is now recognized as the most important tournament of the year, with the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) circuit’s results directly deciding team invites to the coveted tournament.

ESL One Bangkok 2024 – Best Dota 2 tournament in Thailand
Speaking of ESL, they need no introduction as a premier Esports event organizer. Fans can always expect state-of-the-art production quality when watching any ESL One event, regardless of its venue.
However, the ESL One Bangkok 2024 has a place on our list because of what it truly means for the country’s Esports scene. Thailand doesn’t get too many major Esports tournaments, but when they do, it has always been ill-fated. Notably, one of them being the GESC: Thailand Dota2 Minor, was infamous for failing to pay staffs, talents and tournament winnings, despite being a Valve-sponsored event.
Then, there’s the first ESL One event, the ESL One Thailand 2020, which unfortunately converted into a mere online tournament due to the pandemic.
As such, ESL One Bangkok 2024’s success was truly a sight for sore eyes. And, it was even more meaningful for the folks at PARIVISION, who won their first major tournament.

DreamLeague S24 – Best overall Dota 2 tournament series
Another tournament series in EPT is the DreamLeague series. Now at its 24th season, DreamLeague events has become a staple for both Esports fans and Dota 2 pro players throughout the year.
Like most ESL tournaments, DreamLeague has top-notch production quality with the strongest Dota 2 teams playing for a million-dollar prize pool. It’s so frequent that there are three DreamLeague events in line for the 2025 season.
PGL Wallachia Season 2
The official TI organizer, PGL, also hosts their own tournaments when they aren’t working on TI. The PGL Wallachia has great production quality and prize pool to boot, but what’s interesting particularly at PGL Wallachia S2 is the incidents.
Drama, fans love it, the talents talk about it, and rumors spread like wildfire on the Dota 2 Reddit threads. The altercation between Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf and Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev was the headline at PGL Wallachia S2. When two professional players take it ‘outside’ of their games, things do get pretty intense.
BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024
Although the BetBoom Dacha series by FISSURE is a relatively new series, the organizers have done well to keep up with the other big players in Esports.
In fact, the feedback was so positive that FISSURE committed two more years of action-packed Dota 2 events with their new FISSURE PLAYGROUND series.
The International 2024
Despite our gripes regarding Valve’s TI, it is still one of the best Dota 2 tournaments in 2024 for what it’s about.

Every team that won TI, essentially have their name immortalized as a TI Champion, never to be forgotten. Hence, even without the fancy battle passes and large prize pools, we just can’t help but look forward to Gabe Newell’s opening speech and ceremony at TI.
There you have it, the best Dota 2 tournaments of 2024 and years to come. These should be your bucket list to watch for next season’s Dota 2 Esports.
