Dota 2’s Next Patch Wishlist – Here’s What We Expect to See
The Dota 2 Patch 7.38c has been around for some time now, but it seems like fans and players are already waiting for what’s next. Considering that we are yet to see some of the biggest Dota 2 events of the year, it’s likely that Valve will give us access to a new patch. This is especially true following the Staging Server update from a few days ago.
No one knows what Dota 2 has in store for us until it arrives. With that said, we decided to compile a list of changes that we wish to see in the next update. Our Dota 2 wishlist consists of interesting propositions, some of which will likely become available, so it’s time to walk you through them.

A Battle Pass?
The International 2025 is getting closer with each passing day. Considering the event’s importance and the fact that it brings together Dota 2 fans worldwide, we expect to see a new Battle Pass.
Old-school players remember the days of The International 2019, when a portion of every purchase related to the Battle Pass and Compendium contributed to TI’s overall prize pool. It’s been a while since these options were available, so we expect to see a return. Aside from making the event more interesting, it will allow the event to have an enormous prize pool, as it did before.
A new Battle Pass would result in new Immortal Items, quests, and loads of surprises.
Return of Old Items
Since Dota 2 has been around for many years, some of the top-tier cosmetic items of the past are no longer available. Whether it is Immortals or Arcanas, such as the one for IO, people who are playing today no longer have access to these items. Sure, there are many other new things to choose from, but having the opportunity to get some of the older items will definitely make the game more popular.
One of the interesting questions here is if Valve will find a way to offer players all of the old-school items. We expect this to happen by adding new events (more about that in the next paragraphs). However, we would not be surprised if we see new Chests or something similar.
Alongside returning old items, adding different styles can make some current items more desirable. Some people may not like having to “grind” to unlock a given style, but others will appreciate it. This will motivate some players to keep going and allow others to obtain unique-looking items.
A New Event?
Perhaps the thing most Dota 2 players hope to see in their wishlists is related to new events. Fans remember competitions like Diretide and Agh’s Labyrinth because they offered a fun experience and the chance to win different rewards. There’s no arguing that these events increased Dota 2’s player base while they were active, so we expect Valve to come up with something similar in the next update.
We don’t know whether there will be a new version of some of the older events or something completely new. of what happens, these events are an excellent way for players to unwind or have fun while playing with their friends. Dota 2’s client allows the devs to create all kinds of options, so we just have to wait and see regardless if Valve will take advantage of that.
Much-Needed Nerfs and Buffs To Some Heroes
Every big Dota 2 patch has a wide range of buffs and nerfs. Needless to say, the update following 7.38c will also contain several hero changes, and among the things on our wishlist is nerfs to some of the popular heroes in the current patch.
It’s safe to say that Templar Assassin is among the first names that come to mind. If we check the BLAST Slam III meta recap or any other big Dota 2 event in the last couple of months, we will see that TA is one of the most banned heroes in the game. Considering her impressive stats in pubs and pro matches, it is only a matter of time before she gets nerfed.
The same is true for heroes like Wraith King, Ancient Apparition, Medusa, and so on. All of them are solid in the current meta, so we expect Valve to change that in the upcoming patch.
Regarding buffs, we wouldn’t be surprised if Valve focuses on some of the forgotten names in the current meta. Heroes like Lina, Batrider , Naga Siren, Timbersaw, and more have not been in the meta for some time now. A buff to their abilities and/or specific items, however, will bring them back into the game.
Conclusion
Overall, Valve does a good job of keeping Dota 2 interesting. Although the game is over 13 years old, it attracts people worldwide. One of the why reasons the game still has tons of fans is because of the new content, so we can’t wait to see what’s next.
