Dota 2 Primal Beast: Complete guide to Innate Skill and Facets
Primal Beast is one of the newest heroes to join the line-up in Dota 2 and surpasses the model size of Tidehunter. This makes Primal Beast the biggest hero in the game, hands down. Fun facts aside, our beloved gentle giant received several new perks in the form of an innate ability and two options of facets.

Best build for Primal Beast in Dota 2
Primal Beast’s role is typically on the offlane due to its naturally durable skill set and strength. However, what makes it a powerful hero is its high offensive damage and life-threatening combos. This allows Primal Beast to initiate into a fight, lock a target down, and comfortably survive the ordeal altogether.
Primal Beast’s innate skill, Colossal, is relatively simple compared to what many heroes received. It essentially lets Primal Beast deal 40% bonus damage against buildings.
While many Primal Beast players feel that their favorite hero got the short end of the stick in the Dota 2 Update 7.36, his new facets definitely compensate for the lackluster innate ability.

Which is the best facet for Primal Beast?
Specifically, it’s his Ferocity facet ability, which provides 10% AoE bonus for each stack he owns when activating Uproar (skill E). The wording for the new facet may seem underwhelming, but the truth is, the AoE bonus applies not just to Uproar, but all his skills. This makes Primal Beast an absolute AoE damage dealer.
Considering Primal Beast’s crucial role in team fights and control, the larger AoE means more damage dealt and more enemies get affected by both Onslaught and Pulverize’s stuns. And of course, after a successful team fight, Colossal will come in handy in quickly destroying buildings before your opponents can respawn.
The win rate stats speaks volumes as well, considering the 1.5% increase it received, albeit his popularity is still underrated.
Alternatively, the other facet option is Romp N’ Stomp. Sounds fancy, we know, but don’t fall for it. It affects Trample (skill W), to gain a passive movement speed buff by 4% and when activating Trample, it provides a 6% bonus speed to all allies within a 1,200 radius. Frankly, any movement speed bonuses are never worth its value, so always take the alternative facet.
How to play Primal Beast in Patch 7.36?
Thanks to the lack of new and drastic changes to Primal Beast, most players can play it as usual. All his facets and innate ability do not introduce any new features, so it’s still the same Primal Beast build you are comfortable with.

Nevertheless, you would want to prioritize on building on stats-based items, damage reduction and utility items to keep Primal Beast in fights longer. His new changes are mostly damage and AoE improvements, so there is no need for further damage items.
Several items, include Sange and Yasha, which you can disassemble later to build Heaven’s Halberd if you need to counter strong auto-attack carry heroes. BKB is crucial here because you wouldn’t want your opponents to interrupt your wide-AoE stuns while you channel your Pulverize ultimate. Then, to top it off, a Shiva’s Guard offers good armor bonus and even damage reduction.
Now, go create havoc and rampage with Primal Beast and its new facet/innate abilities.
