The Dota 2 Short Film Contest 2025 Overview

As mentioned in the official announcement, the Dota 2 Short Film Contest 2025 will follow a similar format as past events. This means that filmmakers will have to submit their short film in the Steam Workshop (no longer than 90 seconds) until 3 PM PDT on August 17, 2025.

The short film contest is open to everyone, and people can go to the Workshop to vote and help choose the best entries. Speaking of the best, the top 10 short films will be broadcast live at The International.

Valve will also keep an eye on the Workshop discussions & ratings,, and will nominate the top entries. Those lucky enough to end up there will be featured in the Dota client, where players will have a final voting process. Finally, winners will also be incorporated into the TI14 broadcast, as with past years.

Once everything is over, the best 10 short films will receive cash prizes as follows:

  • 1st Place – $25,000
  • 2nd Place – $10,000
  • 3rd Place – $5000
  • 4th-10th Place – $500

Those interested in participating in the Dota 2 Short Film Contest 2025 should check the dedicated page. Without going into too much detail, people need to adhere to certain requirements before competing. For example, each entry must be at least 1080p and up to 90 seconds. Also, those wishing to participate in the contest must have a non-limited Steam account in good standing. The good news is that there is no limit to the number of entries that a given person can submit.
