Dota 2 Gameplay Patch 7.36c Focuses on Rebalancing Facets 

Late on June 24, Valve released patch 7.36c for Dota 2, updating the game with some tweaks and changes to their relatively new Facet system. The update, which was unveiled in the small hours of the morning of June 25 for most people not living on the US Pacific coast, also fixed a number of bugs and changes.

But the main draw of the patch was definitely the Facet changes, with dozens of heroes receiving changes to their optional features. Some of the major changes included Visage, whose Sepulchre Facet was weakened while buffing the contentions Faithful Followers Facet to make it more viable.

Since release, many Facets have had issues with being seemingly a no-brainer to pick or avoid. In fact, as has been noted by multiple observers, in pro play, some Facets are completely ignored by the pros. 

Since their release, Valve has performed a delicate balancing act of making both Facets for each hero either situational or viable at certain points. However, bias towards one or the other seems likely to continue.

Beside these usual balance changes, Valve also detailed the changes they’d made to mitigate bugs that had appeared since the last update.

  • Fixed taunts being unequipped when changing facets
  • Fixed a crash related to Block of Cheese
  • Fixed a crash when creating items with self-restoring charges in custom games
  • Fixed Abaddon and Nyx Assassin not avoiding damage properly
  • Fixed Bloodseeker’s Sanguivore healing for less than intended
  • Fixed Bristleback’s Bristleback with Snot Rocket firing Quills when receiving large single instances of damage
  • Fixed Clinkz’s Aghanim’s Scepter not increasing Skeleton Archer health
  • Fixed Clinkz’s Burning Barrage first attack not benefitting from Tar Bomb
  • Fixed Crystal Maiden’s Crystal Clone always being cast towards the Frostbitten target if Crystal Clone was cast during Frostbite’s backswing animation
  • Fixed Dark Seer’s Level 10 Talent Wall of Replica Illusion Damage not working correctly

  • Fixed Venomancer’s attached Plague Wards not triggering aggro
  • Fixed Visage’s Familiars having various issues
  • Fixed Witch Doctor’s Voodoo Switcheroo sometimes causing Witch Doctor to get stuck if a tree was planted while he was transformed
  • Fixed Facet Selection in Ability Draft occasionally picking an unintended facet
