Monster Hunter Dota 2 Collab Announced With Loads of New Cosmetics
Many Dota 2 fans have been anticipating a new patch, but instead, got one of the most unexpected gaming crossovers in recent memory. Valve and Capcom have pulled off a wild collaborative event where Dota 2 meets Monster Hunter.
The crossover mainly focuses on cosmetics rather than gameplay changes or new modes, but it gives players fresh reasons to log back into the game as events are often a successful recipe in reviving the active player base in the past.
The event officially launched on November 11, 2025, and is scheduled to end on February 6, 2026, meaning you’ll have plenty of time to collect all available skins.

All Dota 2 x Monster Hunter Skins
Right as you launch Dota 2, you’ll be greeted with a Palico courier for free – a recognizable companion from the Monster Hunter franchise. However, that’s just the start of what this crossover brings. Several heroes have received monster-themed sets:
- Sniper – Odogaron Set
- Techies – Palico Disguise Unit
- Anti-Mage – Kirin Set
- Dragon Knight – Rathalos Armour
- Beastmaster – Bone Armour
- Windranger – Zinogre Set
All of these sets can be earned through in-game crafting, so you don’t necessarily need to spend real money to collect them.

Breaking Down Crafting System
The event introduces a crafting system inspired by Monster Hunter’s signature gameplay loop.
Instead of buying these cosmetics straight with cash, you can hunt materials by finishing Dota 2 matches, which can then be used to obtain the sets.
Each material comes in different rarities, ranging from Common to Super Rare. Certain heroes also drop specific items, so there’s no guarantee you’ll immediately get the set you’re aiming for. This encourages you to experiment with your own strategies, or just play a lot of Dota.
There’s also a feature called the Hero Atlas, which tracks your progress throughout the event. The Atlas displays which heroes drop what materials and how far you are from crafting each item.
No Time to Grind? Buy the Expedition Pack
If you don’t have the time or effort to grind for every crafting material, Valve’s got you covered with the Expedition Pack. It’s a premium bundle that unlocks instant access to cosmetics and bonuses.
For $15 USD, the pack includes extra hunt materials, alternate hero set variants, Monster Hunter-themed rewards like custom music packs and sprays, and most importantly, Poogie – a new Effigy Pet.

Poogie – Monster Hunter’s beloved pig companion – has become Dota 2’s first-ever Effigy Pet. When you’re in your base, Poogie happily follows your hero around. Once you leave the base area, he’ll stay behind near your effigy, waiting safely for your return.
