Shopify Rebellion has officially exited the Dota 2 scene, and the owner of the organization cited the team’s poor performance as the chief reason why.
Shopify Rebellion made waves when it first entered the Dota world in 2022 with an absolutely stacked roster featuring Artour “Arteezy” Babaev and Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen. However, after three years of attempts with plenty of roster changes and no trophies, the organization has abruptly exited the scene on July 30, 2025. In the official statement, co-founder and former Starcraft 2 pro Dario Wünsch cited the team’s lack of success as the core reason for the split. Still, the sponsor intends to return to Dota 2 at a later date.
Shopify Rebellion chose to leave Dota 2 after nearly three years due to not winning any events.
The Canadian organization released an official statement on July 30, 2025 explaining the reason for its departure. In it, co-founder Dario Wünsch cited the team’s consistent inability to earn trophies.
“I know being a Rebellion Dota fan wasn’t easy. The heartbreak you felt, cheering us on, I can assure you was mirrored by what we felt. We found ourselves in so many promising positions, countless times on the cusp of a deep tournament run, only to have our hopes slip through our fingers, again and again… Despite all the energy and passion put into competitive Dota we ultimately fell short of the standards we set for ourselves,” said Wünsch.

Most recently, the team failed to qualify for The International 2025 through the North American closed qualifier. The squad reached the grand finals against Wildcard Gaming, but it was unable to clinch game five despite Wildcard drafting with a level two penalty. Missing out on TI is often a death knell for top teams. Face with the option of either yet another rebuild or leaving the scene entirely, Shopify management opted for the latter.
With the organization’s pullback, the players under it are free to pursue other opportunities or continue playing as an unsponsored stack. The final roster of Shopify Rebellion Dota 2 was as follows:
