Xtreme Gaming ends Team Falcons Dota 2 win streak
Before we look at the actual grand finals, here’s a quick recap on Xtreme’s season to date. The Chinese team secured their second trophy of the year, following their success at Games of the Future. Despite their domestic achievements, the team has not yet captured a major international LAN event, such as the BetBoom Dacha and DreamLeague series. This was with the highly anticipated return of Wang “Ame” Chunyu to the competitive Dota 2 scene.
As such, against all odds, this Chinese team clinched the Dota 2 Elite League 2024 championship by defeating the MENA-based champion, Team Falcons in the Grand Final.
How did the Elite League 2024 Grand Finals go down?
The competition commenced with Falcons dominating the first match, a 43-minute game led by standout performances from young prodigies, Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak and Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf.
Responding vigorously, Xtreme Gaming reversed their odds in the second game, securing a win in less than 30 minutes. Ame’s performance on Luna was pivotal, contributing to the team’s overall dominance. What’s exhilarating is the momentum continues in the third game, with Xtreme Gaming achieving a commanding victory again. But this time, Guo “Xm” Hongcheng’s Viper delivered exceptional plays alongside the rest of the team’s efforts, making the dream work.
Despite Falcons’ resilient fight in the fourth game, which extended to 53 minutes, Xtreme Gaming capitalized on late-game errors by Falcons to secure the series and the championship title.

All Eyes on Xtreme Gaming
The latest iteration of Xtreme Gaming was formed at the end of the previous year, marked by the return of the Chinese Dota 2 icon, Ame. The team, rejuvenated with new members from Azure Ray and the consistent Ding “Dy” Cong from the previous Xtreme lineup, quickly ascended to prominence in the Chinese Dota 2 scene.
Although their performance in international tournaments at the beginning of 2024 was inconsistent, their victory at Games of the Future 2024 demonstrated their potential amongst other Chinese rivals. The team also achieved a commendable third-place finish at DreamLeague Season 22, but many overlooked their performance as Falcons hoarded the spotlight.
Falcons vs Xtreme Rematch at ESL One Birmingham Dota 2 2024
Nevertheless, Team Falcons are still indisputably one of the world’s leading Dota 2 teams. They have won consecutive titles at BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 and DreamLeague Season 22, setting high expectations for their performance in the Elite League. A first runner-up finish is by no means an indicator of poor performance for Falcons.
However, as both teams prepare for the upcoming ESL One Birmingham 2024, all eyes are on their potential rematch for bragging rights. But note that the participation of Falcons’ key player Malr1ne may be jeopardized due to ongoing visa delays.
