Two Favorites Fail To Qualify For FISSURE Playground 2 Playoffs

FISSURE Playground 2 is the first S-Tier Dota 2 LAN scheduled after the events of The International 2025. The tournament carries a lot of weight in establishing early dominance in the new season, leading to some shockingly early exits for favorites.

The tournament’s modified 16-team Swiss system group stage has proven quite entertaining, with TI14 winner Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak receiving an account ban (now resolved) and two powerful squads sent home early.

At the start of FISSURE Playground 2, PARIVISION was seen as the third-strongest team (and pulled out of BLAST Slam IV to rest for this event), with odds of 3.80 indicating a 26.31% chance to lift the trophy and claim the lion’s share of the tournament’s $1 million prize pool.

Aurora Gaming was ranked sixth-strongest, with odds of 6.30, indicating a 15.87% chance to win it all. Despite these strong rankings and Aurora Gaming’s guaranteed top-six placement at BLAST Slam IV, both these teams fell flat at FISSURE Playground 2.

PARIVISION got off to a strong start in the group stage, beating Nigma Galaxy 2-1 before losing 1-2 against Aurora Gaming. The squad went on to defeat underdogs Team Cobra with a clean 2-0, before falling to a reverse-sweep at the hands of BetBoom Team. In the final round of play, PARIVISION ran out of steam, losing 2-0 to Team Liquid and being eliminated early.

Aurora Gaming’s journey also got off to a strong start, as they managed to sweep Runa Team 2-0 and beat PARIVISION 2-1. Sitting pretty with a 2-0 record, Aurora Gaming fell short against Team Spirit and lost to a reverse-sweep against underdogs Team Yandex. In the final round of play, MOUZ beat Aurora 2-1 to send them packing surprisingly early.

FISSURE Playground 2 continues with the playoffs stage, starting on October 28 and running until November 2. You can watch all the top-tier Dota 2 esports action unfold via the tournament organizer’s Kick and YouTube channels.
