Ursa Dota 2 Guide – Provide Excellent Roshan Control in 7.07d
Ursa is an agility hero that can be played as a safe or mid lane carry. His most important strengths are the following:
- He can damage and slow enemy units for 4 seconds in a 385 radius circle using his Earthshock ability.
- He can give himself +400 attack speed for his next 3/4/5/6 attacks using his Overpower ability.
- He can deal higher and higher damage on a target thanks to his Fury Swipes passive ability, which grants him bonus damage for each new attack by placing a debuff on his targets. This debuff lasts for 20 seconds and is refreshed with each new hit.
- He can get rid of debuffs and reduce all incoming damage by 80% for 4 seconds, using his Enrage ability. This ability also grants him a 1.5/1.75/2 multiplier for his Fury Swipes damage.
- With a lifesteal item such as Morbid Mask, he can easily kill Roshan on his own after level 6, thanks to his abilities.

Ursa Item build
Being a hero that relies exclusively on right click damage to farm, destroy buildings and kill enemies, Ursa depends on good items to have a significant impact on the game. Here are some of the most important items you should consider buying when you play him in Dota 2 esports:
- Stout Shield: gives you decent protection in the early stages of the game.
- Quelling Blade: this will improve your last hitting and your farming speed after the laning phase.
- Magic Wand: often provides the essential health and mana recharge you need to survive or get an important kill.
- Orb of Venom: allows you slow a target’s movement speed by 12% with your attacks.
- Phase Boots: the added speed from its active is excellent on any melee hero that needs to stay close to its targets, and the +24 bonus damage also synergizes well with Ursa’s abilities.
- Vladmir’s Offering: gives you mana and health regeneration, lifesteal, armor and damage.
- Blink Dagger: allows you to more easily engage and disengage your enemies.
- Basher: synergizes well with the attack speed bonus you get from Overpower, allowing you to stun targets and often kill them before they can react.
- Black King Bar: if you’re facing a team that has a lot of disables and magical damage, you should buy this item either before or just after the Basher.
- Desolator: this is an excelent damage item if you don’t have a good building hitter in your team.
- Manta Style: allows you to remove a lot of debuffs and confuse your enemies. It also gives a nice boost in multiple areas: movement speed, damage, attack speed and stats.
- Sange and Yasha: if you need the added movement speed and the ability to slow your enemies even further, this item can be very good against certain line-ups that excel in the mobility department.
- Linken’s Sphere: nice to have against long duration single target stuns and powerful ultimate abilities that pierce magic immunity: Duel, Rupture, Doom, Fiend’s Grip etc.
- Aghanim’s Scepter: reduces the cooldown of your ultimate by 12 seconds (at level 3) and allows you to cast it while being disabled.

Best Ursa Talents
- +1.75 mana regeneration / +8 strength – Ideally you should take the second option, but you’ll often have to choose the first one just to cover your mana needs.
- +16 agility / -1s Earthshock cooldown – You should always take the agility.
- +1 Enrage duration / +25s Fury Swipes debuff duration – Given that the Fury Swipes debuff duration is already 20 seconds, the second talent is quite pointless at this stage of the game
- +14 Fury Swipes damage / +600 AoE Earthshock – If you need better capabilities against single targets, take the first talent. If you need to deal with a lot of illusions or lineups that stay grouped up most of the time, take the second one.
Skill build
When playing Ursa, you should start with a point in Fury Swipes, followed by a point in Earthshock and then one in Overpower. Afterwards you maximize Fury Swipes, Overpower and Earthshock in this order, putting points in your ultimate and taking talents whenever you can.

When to pick the hero
Ursa is a strong hero whenever you want to have excellent Roshan control and great pushing power in the early game. He’s also a good pick whenever you need to be able to land a lot of attacks in a short space of time (against heroes like Phoenix or Enchantress for example). Furthermore, Ursa is a difficult hero to lane against because of his Fury Swipes, so he can be a strong counter to highly survivable offlane heroes such as Faceless Void.
Kill Roshan Early
Ursa is a carry with great physical damage output and strong early game presence. He’s a counter to heroes that rely on reducing their opponents’ attack speed with their abilities, and is generally used in line-ups that want to kill Roshan, push early, and then snowball out of control.
