Everything Coming in The Next Escape from Tarkov Wipe
In August, Escape from Tarkov will undergo another wipe – the global reset that takes every player’s account and swipes the slate clean. This is when Escape from Tarkov becomes dramatically popular, with many thousands of players returning to the industry-leading extraction shooter to explore the additions and changes made by the game’s developer, Battlestate Games. In a recent episode of TarkovTV, Battlestate Games expanded on everything coming in the next Tarkov wipe.
By all accounts, Battlestate has a whopper of an update planned for the next wipe – which is confirmed to be arriving in August 2024. From new weapons to changes to the game’s core maps, and from a new loot box system to fresh drip, there’s plenty of content being injected into Tarkov with the next wipe.
Read on to see the full breakdown.
What’s New in Tarkov?
The next Tarkov wipe will bring some immense changes to how the game operates. Per the latest Battlestate Games update, at the heart of the update sits the ‘PMC karma system’, which will see unsporting players hunted down by a new ‘bounty hunter-style’ boss. Nikita Buyanov, the studio head at Battlestate, explained that he won’t highlight how the system works, but dataminers – who he hates – will find out eventually.
With the new wipe comes a new season, and in August, autumn will arrive, bringing with it new ambient and environmental changes. In Tarkov, players will be able to explore their hideouts further, building new areas and enjoying fresh constructs like armour mannequins. In the same vein, Battlestate is also introducing fresh clothing items for both factions: BEAR and USEC.
The link between Escape from Tarkov and Tarkov Arena will finally be established, allowing players to transfer items between the two standalone games. In Arena, competitors will be able to unlock ‘Arena Crates’ that will port to Escape from Tarkov. Once there, players will use the crafting interface to open these crates, and like Scav Cases, they’ll feature randomised items and assets. BSG also confirmed a sizeable update is planned for the recently introduced PvE mode, bringing more customisation options.
Equipped for Battle
Four new weapons are making their way into Tarkov with the wipe:
- M60
- SR3M
- Uzi
- Desert Eagle
Heavier weapons will be able to use a bipod feature following the next Tarkov wipe. That means that unparalleled steadiness when using a weapon to fire sustained bursts will be achievable at the cost of sitting still. Further, landmines and tripwires will become commonplace – as if Escape from Tarkov wasn’t already challenging enough. Players and AI characters will be able to leave mines in containers and on bodies to bamboozle unsuspecting PMCs.
For players able to unlock it, there’s a new secure container coming to Tarkov too – Theta. This super-sized stash box features a huge number of slots, but Battlestate Games hasn’t confirmed how it’ll be unlocked. Perhaps you’ll access it like The Unheard Edition and pay a wad of cash to get your hands on it, who knows?
Alongside all these changes is a range of other modifications coming to the game:
- Factory rework
- New trader
- Quality-of-life improvements
- Better optimisation
- More achievements
- New apparel
That’s going to make for a juicy Tarkov wipe in August.
