Battlestate Games Teases Customs Map Expansion for Tarkov

On social media, Battlestate Games’ Nikita Buyanov shared images that many believe show an expansion of the Customs map. As one of the oldest and most popular maps in Escape from Tarkov, Customs is a tried-and-tested battleground with plenty to offer players of all shapes and sizes. For the longest time, the map has remained unchanged, with only minor amendments having been made to it. In recent months, the team at Battlestate has been upgrading and expanding most of the game’s maps – is Customs next?

In the series of images, we’re treated to shots of a cargo facility accessed by a railway – which is a concept tied closely to Customs. There’s a storage facility packed with boxes and crates, and a crane-based loading system, all of which fit nicely with the Customs aesthetic. Eagle-eyed users have spotted a BTR roaming in the background of one picture, which suggests that the APC that roams other maps, like Woods and Streets of Tarkov, will wind up coming to Customs.

customs map expansion

Escape from Tarkov has had a rough few months. From the rise of competing titles like Gray Zone Warfare to the controversy caused by the reveal of The Unheard Edition, Battlestate Games has been put in a sticky spot more than a few times so far this year. Despite that, the team has worked hard to deliver a new roadmap, outlining what’s coming next to the popular extraction shooter. Fans are now waiting patiently for the arrival of the next wipe, the global reset event that wipes the slate clean for the entire community.

It was expected for a while that Customs might receive some kind of upgrade, especially given the fact that Battlestate is expanding or updating almost every map in the game. Most recently, Nikita Buyanov referenced a complete overhaul of the Factory map, which is the smallest map in Tarkov and a great place to practice player-vs-player combat.

While the images shared on Twitter haven’t been confirmed as showcasing a Customs expansion, it seems highly likely that’s what they are. Players have lined up the backgrounds of the images with what’s available in Escape from Tarkov, and it seems like a sure thing that we’re looking at Customs.
