Big W: FlyQuest hoping to strengthen Tier 2 esports with PROJECT: GRASSROOTS

The esports ecosystem needs help. Bad. FlyQuest believes it has a solution with PROJECT: GRASSROOTS.
The new project aims to support Tier 2 esports teams and competitive programs that are in desperate need of more funding and resources. A tweet from FlyQuest read: “Tier 2 esports and grassroots projects are the lifeblood of this industry. They need help now more than ever.”
With these smaller scenes being the future of esports, the industry as a whole is concerned when we see them struggling to survive. We need collegiate esports, amateur teams, women’s leagues, and passionate local communities to keep esports alive. However, it’s always been a challenge.
“They don’t have the support in the esports ecosystem that they deserve,” said FlyQuest CEO Brian Anderson.
Esports community excited by PROJECT: GRASSROOTS, but what scene is next?
FlyQuest told esports fans that PROJECT: GRASSROOTS will start later in 2026, with some announcements coming soon. Expect some new rosters and programs.
The long-term goal is to support programs that need funding or were previously dropped, finance travel for teams that don’t have the means of getting to tournaments, and support smaller esports scenes that have passion for competitive gaming.
“We want people in the comments putting out the Bat Signal,” Anderson continued. If you know any teams, programs, or esports scenes that need support, let ’em know. I’ve seen a few mentions for Pokémon UNITE and the LVT Halo Pro Series.
I would also like to add Super Smash Bros. Melee. Lord knows the struggle over there.
- No, Melee pro Zain did not expose himself on stream… That was the other Zain

- Okay, I know the FGC is cheap, but y’all are getting a bit too worked up about the Capcom Cup 12 PPV at this point
Overall, the esports community at large has responded with excitement over FlyQuest’s mission. Revitalizing the hope for smaller scenes and Tier 2 teams is a huge W for the industry as a whole. Esports is supposed to be about passion and determination. Thinking of where it started, with fighting games in arcades and Tetris, it’s about people who throw themselves into things that aren’t popular. They just love it.
We’re so back.
