Fortnite’s V-Bucks price increase aint as bad as it sounds

fortnite peely thumbs up

Epic Games has announced it will increase the cost of Fortnite‘s V-Bucks, much to the probable dismay of parents worldwide.

However, the cost is not that bad, with Epic trying to help retain spending with promotional rewards and keeping players in the loop with cheaper items where possible.

Based on current V-Bucks costs, players will need to spend a little more to get less. However, Epic Games is offering Epic Rewards, which grant some cashback, but only really increase the cost by a few cents here and there. Sure, it’s nickel-and-diming you, but it could be much worse, like Xbox Game Pass price increases, for example.

Here is the price breakdown:

You shouldn’t notice any difference in Fortnite Battle Pass costs

In addition, the Battle Pass cost is being reduced to match the inflation rates of the V-Bucks changes. To stay in line with the basic V-Bucks pack, Battle Passes will now cost 800 V-Bucks. You can also complete those passes and get 800 V-Bucks back, allowing you to get the next Battle Pass for free.

Ideally, players will complete Battle Passes and then spend the reward programme on getting the skins, which is where, realistically, the price increases come into play. Epic states they have moved it from the bonus and put it into the pass itself. So, it should be much more achievable to reach over the course of a Battle Pass Season.

So, if you’re buying V-Bucks, know that the Battle Pass is still cost-effective, but those collab skins you’re paying for might now cost you that little bit more without you realizing it.

It’s not the worst thing to happen, but clarity will help you know what exactly you’re spending money on in this strange virtual economy world.

The price increases are likely coinciding with rising tech costs for server support and rising electricity prices. Oil has shut up amid events in Iran and the Gulf, alongside ever-ballooning server infrastructure prices.

So, running Fortnite is more expensive, which is why the V-Buck price increases.
