Epic Games takes major step towards bringing Fortnite Mobile back
Fortnite Mobile is inching towards a return. It has largely been unavailable for iOS users for the last four years. Epic Games and Apple were embroiled in a testy lawsuit that eventually concluded but did not offer any hope for the mobile version of the game to come back. Over the last several months, Epic has made a concerted effort to try and get it back, taking steps to allow for it in different ways. The latest step is a huge one that suggests that this version of Fortnite might be back sooner than previously hoped.

Fortnite Mobile Closer to Return
According to leaker ShiinaBR, one of the most renowned sources of information in the Fortnite community, Epic Games has worked to synchronize V-Bucks purchases on Apple and other devices. This was the central issue that led to the lawsuit and the removal of the app from iOS devices in the first place. For Epic to finally be working on streamlining this suggests that the two sides are closer to a resolution than ever before.
Initially, Apple’s internal purchase system bypassed the Epic Games one. In-app purchases were different than the standard in-game purchases made for V-Bucks. This discrepancy landed in court and while Epic did lose, the courts ruled that Apple had to change their business practices for in-app purchases. That didn’t do anything to stop the burgeoning feud, but it certainly seems like the two have a better understanding now.
The ability to purchase V-Bucks is primarily how Epic Games makes money. Fortnite is free-to-play on all platforms including mobile, so they live and die by how much people spend on V-Bucks. For there to be issues with that on one platform was troublesome, but the latest update indicates a brighter future. All gamers, but especially those who haven’t been able to play since August 2020, will benefit from this news.
