Historically, live events usually take place a day before the new season is released unless the release date places it in the mid-week. Then, we get the live event a bit earlier. To ensure players actually have the time free to enjoy it, and that the majority of the player base are free for the new season. Which means sometimes we get these events on successive weekends.
What Was expected in the live event?
The live event will had a few days of build-up that has already begun on February 10 . If you took the time to visit the mountain behind the Warrior’s Watch, you’ll notice the portal there has come alive, along with an NPC moved there.
The NPC was using his masks to activate the portal. Prepping for the live event that was going to begin.
When taking a closer look at Dingo, you can see he carries these Splinter Blades, which were crafted using fragments of the Zero Point Shard and which were given to him by the Nid Ros.
What Happened with the Fortnite Live Event?
The live event began with a large field of peace installed around the area. Meaning players couldn’t kill each other here. This was active for the entire game, so no massacring event watchers like the old kill-record setter did. Once the event began, one of the Shogun bosses exited portal.
We were then treated to a fight between the NPC and the Shogun. Which escalated until they were both giant figures on the map. Set for a full scale brawl that took up the whole island. Of course, eventually the bad guy was defeated and we carried on with the normal Battle Royale game!
Now, the portal has been replaced with a large pool of gold. It’s streaming out of the entire portal, giving small amounts of the item and making a striking sight on one of the tallest spots on the new map. With the Chapter 6 Season 2 big POI expected to sit around here, this stream from the portal could be a major lore element next season.
