Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 is just around the corner. The debut season of Chapter 1 is nearing an end, and the leaks and reveals have been steadily flowing. The only question that now remains is when exactly this will all come to fruition. We know it’s set to go live on February 21, but what time does the current season end, and when does the new season start? Here’s what we know so far.

Chapter 6 Season 1 will go dark around 11:00 pm Pacific Time on Thursday, February 20th. That translates to 2:00 am Eastern Time on Friday, February 21st. Seasonal changes always have some downtime, though not nearly as much as chapter changes. The switch to Chapter 5, for example, was rather lengthy. Players were offline for a while between Chapters 5 and 6, too.
We don’t have an official confirmation on when Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 will debut, but it is expected to be live by 6:00 am EST on Friday morning. That means downtime should be less than four hours. So by the time folks in that time zone wake up, there should be a brand-new season.
Season 2 is expected to bring about a few major changes, and that will result in some downtime. Fortunately, it’s done at a time when Epic Games believes fewer players will be online, thus limiting the damage it does. Not everyone is asleep then, but a lot of people are, so Epic will upload the new season during that time. Do note that Fortnite OG will not be undergoing a seasonal change. They just did that not too long ago.
Chapter 6 Season 2 is going to introduce three new POIs and several new landmarks. It is also going to add quite a few items to the loot pool, including a dual-wield shotgun and a new Mythic. Of course, new characters and cosmetic items will be added to the battle pass this time, too. There are plenty of changes to go around. They should all be up and running by the early morning in Eastern Time.
